There are a couple of new entries over at the Cinematic Titanic site, including an interesting post by J. Elvis about how he created the Cinematic Titanic theme song.

Wow, so Elvis did write the theme song. I think it’s great. In fact, I was fooled into believing it might be from the film or at least its time period.
And speaking of time…I don’t have my copy of “Oozing Brain” yet, but with the reference to a time tube and such, and Mr. Weinstein’s superb theme song, has anyone been remind of certain 60’s tv show that Joel certainly would have watched in his formative years (in fact, I’m pretty sure there’s a reference to The Time Tunnel in an MST ep). Here’s what I’m talking about:

I think I might like Josh’s version of the theme song better than the real one.

So Sampo…. will there be a Cinematic Titanic episode guide around here, or is that outside the scope of this site?

    Well done Josh!

The music is so well done I thought it was a canned piece.

Imagine this possibility, what if CinTit developed and evolved to the point that its as bigger or bigger than MST3K?

It could happen, just remember it took MST3K a couple of years to really find the perfect formula.

A downside of Sinny Tit’s debut being burned-on-demand
is that each disc can have an identifiable, unique tracking number hidden on it somewhere. I predict that as soon as the first discs arrive in the mail, it will hit Pirate Bay within hours.

Caution to uploaders: Make a DIVX rip to share. Don’t upload a DVD image. That might get you fingered.

Caution to douchebags…. Uh I mean “uploaders”: DON’T UPLOAD THE OOZING SKULL UNLESS YOU WANT IT TO BE THE ONE AND ONLY CINEMATIC TITANIC. Shell out the $15 you cheap skates. We’ve all been dreaming about this kind of thing for years now, and I don’t want some cheap lowlifes messing it up because they won’t drop $15 to support it. This most certainly isn’t a cheap production for Joel and the crew, and they most likely aren’t going to be rolling in the dough by making it either, so they have no reason to keep putting in the money, time, and effort if it’s going to be seen by nothing but a bunch of ungrateful jerks who didn’t pay to support it. Use bittorrent to find those rare and unavailable TV shows and movies. Go ahead, it’s great for that. But don’t use it to steal something readily available like CT. CT isn’t a big Hollywood studio production. They need all the support we can give them. Stealing it online will kill it without a doubt.

  8. EXACTLY!!!!!! This is PRECISELY what will kill the whole project! It will also kill RiffTrax and force Mike and Bridget to move back to the frozen tundra if you scumbags choose to steal that property as well! This isn’t ripping-off some giant corporation, after all. Show some respect to the people whose talent you claim to enjoy.

Actually, the theme song sounds a LOT like what Joel used for the Statical Planets trailer. In fact, when I first heard this on the CT trailer, I assumed that it had the same inspiration.

I grabbed a torrent of the movie but never got around to DLing it. I wanted to see it un-riffed and have something to hold me over till Cintit, but it’s almost out now anyways. Still, it’s always fun to check out Un-MSTed versions of movies for the cut scenes. Especially when there’s obvious cuts and plot holes. It was bugging me yesterday while watchin the Girl in Lovers Lane.

Look…I’m sure I am not the only one who thinks this: Why are you all so taken with Weinstein? He was on the show only at the very, very beginning (a measly 19 episodes!). If all of MST3K history is a 12 month calender, Josh bolted in late January. He didn’t even stay until Spring Break! Kevin Murphy is Tom Servo. Period. End of line.

  12. @ John Watson:

Josh established the Tom Servo character that Murphy carried on and devoloped. He also helped create the formula for the show we all know and love. And he co-wrote the theme, aspects of which were still being used years after he had left.

Why are we taken with Josh? Because he is a talented fellow who helped bring this show to us.

More appropriate would be to ask why some people continue to choose to ignore his contribution just becuase he was the first to jump ship.

And he was there for all of KTMA (21 episodes) and all of Season 1 (13 epiodes). That’s 34, if you’re counting. (Cause I am.)

Well i can only speak for myself but I cme to MST3K during season 1. And all i can say really is that is was The Sh!t! It was the most amzing discovery i’ve ever made and ever WILL make on television. I think i was even surfing at the time FOR b-movies. (if USA Up All Night wasnt on you were pretty much screwed) So i became a huge fan very quickly and from my perspective, at least for a while, there was no OTHER Tom Servo. Period. Just like there was only Joel for a long time and no Mike, the writer guy who’d show up every now and then. Yet. Sure, Josh may not have been around that long, but he definatly made an impression on my mind very quickly. I recall I was definatly lured in originally because of a joke Crow made, but it was Tom’s voice i was initially fascinated with. He was the voice of the movie rifing parts in the show to me. I also remember catching Josh’s hand during a movie segment during a Servo handoff and that intrigued me to the point of obsessive staring, trying catch it again. :(
