The Sherlock movie’s actually one of the better PD-vultured Rathbone/Bruce wartime-Holmes, just that this’s the only one of the series with a “temptress” in it, hence B&MJ.
And we probably won’t get “Crunchy Basil Rath-bones” callbacks from Magic Sword.
Please join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for what we believe is the 3,204th Coronet short they’ve riffed

Riffing public domain movies is stupid and evil, when Mike/Rifftrax does it. It was fine when Joel did it.
Bridget and Mary Jo’s choices of movies must always be criticized because they’re associated with Mike/Rifftrax.
Callbacks are “fan service” when Rifftrax does it, but if they don’t you’ll whine about that too.
Riffing shorts or films from the same studio is stupid and evil when Mike/Rifftrax does it. It was fine when Joel did it.

I suspect that woman was my third grade teacher. I don’t really remember. Forty-five kids in the class, the immense passing of time and the fog of day after day of dull, grinding boredom have obscured the memory. I do remember the nuclear attack drills and standing against the walls in the unairconditioned hallways being a pleasant relief. If there is a hell it will be an endless third grade and the only subject will be long division.

Not so. There’s also Gale Sondergaard in “The Spider Woman” and Patricia Morison in “Dressed to Kill”. While Evelyn Ankers in “The Pearl of Death” plays a villainous character, I wouldn’t characterize her as a femme fatale.
By the way, “The Pearl of Death” features Rondo Hatton in his first “Creeper” role. This one, however, isn’t exploitative, in that he’s a shadowy, mysterious figure for most of the movie, with his face only visible briefly near the end.
On the topic of the actual product, I very much enjoyed The Woman in Green. The print was excellent, the colorization was nicely done (and not garish), and the riffing was solid. It’s definitely one I’ll watch over and over.
Haven’t watched the short yet, but it looks sufficiently creepy and Coronet-y to be very enjoyable.

Speaking of Holmes, I remember on “In Search Of” there was a segment on someone posing as Professor Moriarty sending poison pen letters to the famous house/museum for what was said to be years and I guess they never did track the mystery writer down.
The people who live in Mike’s old apartment must be fuming at him by now over all the Eric J. letters.

I think there is something deeper here. I see…I see Eric, parading in front of a mirror in a lace robe, in a room surrounded by pictures of Mr. Nelson. While Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus is playing in the background.
Not to sound creepy, or any offense to Mary Jo’s shorter haircut, (I actually think it looks great) but Bridgette always rocks with the big hair. Even with a Sherlock “deerstalker” style cap on.

Sorry if the cosplay comment in it’s original form was in bad taste, it was funny when the ambien told me to write it. ;)
Anyways, now that B&MJ seem to be a permanent fixture to the team who here thinks Trace and Frank should just hop on board instead of spreading the talent all over. I think there was at one time 4 different riffing troupes. I’m likely wrong but anyways. I don’t mean they have to share the stage at once, they could do shows with them live as well just do their own riff performance. They could also release PD stuff or even some audio only material on the web for some extra scratch. Strength in numbers is what I say.
What do you think is the best television or film version of “Hounds of the Baskervilles”? It’s my favorite of them all. And don’t tell me to wait for A Robert Downy Jr. version where he karate punches the dog to the throat in a slow motion narrative.
The Rathbone/Bruce version is OK, and I like the Cushing/Lee Hammer version, as well. The Jeremy Brett version was well-done, and I liked the Ian Richardson version. But stay away from the Peter Cook/Dudley Moore version; it’s awful.
Oh, by the way, today is the anniversary of the premiere of “The Woman in Green” in 1945.
As a big Bridget & Mary Jo fan, I picked up “The Woman in Green” as soon as I sold some of my husband’s tools on eBay to have some money in my PayPal account. No, wait, I mean I sold some of my old craft supplies! Uh, yeah, that’s it. Yep.
Thought it was very good but not great, partly because the movie itself wasn’t horrible in the same vein as, say, “Cat-Women of the Moon.” Nevertheless, as a Sherlockian it was a fun outing. I loved the Columbo jokes and the general ribbing of Watson’s cluelessness (literally, he never picks up on any clues, but that’s what makes Watson Watson).
Watched this one tonight. Very funny work from Bridget & Mary Jo. The movie itself isn’t as good as others in the series. Henry Daniell is good as Moriarty, but Watson seems even more bumbling than usual. I was surprised that, given that Hillary Brooke is in this one, that there were no Abbott & Costello jokes, but the rapid-fire jokes re: the drug near the end were hilarious.
Another good one from the ladies.I’d like to see them tour with the Mads..maybe riff a movie together and then pair off and do a short together..More bang for your buck..Let’s hope it happens,won’t we?
Yeah, running gags are great. One of my favorite kinds of humor.
Too bad Joel never did running gags.
Oh wait. He did. A lot.
