According to my vast two and a half minutes of research this may well be the only movie with GODMONSTER in the title. Vaguely, almost myopically vaguely, reminiscent of WEREWOLF one might be inclined to wonder how a bosomy actress unfamiliar with the English language would mispronounce GODMONSTER.

  3. I’m surprised this (sheep horror) isn’t a whole movie genre in New Zealand.

I’m just intrigued by how strikingly similar the Godmonster looks to Sean the Sheep.

Thank you–I was trying to work out an Eraserhead reference that would have been tasteful enough, but…yeah. You just keep expecting that “Baa. ;) ” and Sean-grin.

(At least, in the closeup shots, and not in the “What if the Creeping Terror had legs?” long-shots.)

Worried about the horrors of sheep? DO WHAT THE SCOTS DO!! Wear a WOOL kilt and tuck into a plate of HAGGIS, but it has to be the traditional haggis stuffed in a sheep’s stomach. Forget your crucifixes and wooden stakes. Haggis breath will send those godmonsters scampering back to the moors!

I saw clips of this movie on “Reel Wild Cinema” (remember that?) about 15 yrs ago and went out and bought it on DVD at Suncoast (remember them?). I’ve never gotten around to watching it. So now I’ll buy the Riffed version and finally watch it.

This one (unriffed) happens to be on Amazon Prime if anyone dares. I’m game.

Was that the one with the great title sequence?

Reel Wild Cinema and Suncoast in one comment?! Oh, stop, your honeyed words could charm the very dew off the honeysuckle! I have such fond memories of both of those. I remember plopping myself in front of the TV late at night with a bagel-and-schmear and watching Sandra Bernhard hold forth from that wonderful midcentury, tiki-revivalist set. And yes, the opening credits were a gas!

Thanks for the tips/link on Reel Wild Cinema; somehow I missed that, but Lord, I remember Sandra Bernhard. Interesting tie-ins to our favorite puppet show.

I remember only one thing about this film just by it’s original “trailer”. The overdubbed audio of the kids. Apparently, the director really wanted to hit home that they were having a picnic they forced kids into a sound booth. The bit with the kid going “Ummm, these are good hot dogs” was stuck in my head for a week out of pure wtf-ness. Think I’ll make it my username. Haha!
