They couldn’t wait until much closer to the release date to announce this? They had to have us gnawing at the gate (or some other much better metaphor) for over three months? Sheesh.

Mmhmm.

You could have always bought the Kickstarter version when it was available and had it months ago. It also included a lot more extra features than this set has.

As someone who has been kicking himself for not ordering the Kickstarter version, I’ll be very glad to have the episodes on DVD at last!

Well. Numerous people will be, one might say, livid with pleasedness at this news.

Shout always did announce the names of the next box set 4 months early, so 3 months early is actually better than usual.

Is that documentary on both the DVD and Blu Ray, or just Blu Ray?

Maybe I’m spoiled, but given that anyone with Netflix can watch all of these episodes anytime, I would’ve expected more impressive Extras. This set will likely be in the $59-69 range, which is a lot to pay for a documentary. However, my compliments to them for Not including the KTMA “lost episodes” as extras, so that they remain a bona fide award for the Kickstarter-backers.

What are all the bonus features on the Kickstarter set? For whatever reason I forgot to go back and order it as an add-on after selecting the mystery gift instead (which I love).

What did the mystery gift turn out to be? Or do you want it to remain a mystery?

Since it shipped a few months ago, I hope it’s ok to reveal now: It’s a limited edition Funko Pop of Tom Servcrow. So it’s the Crow Pop but painted up like Servo, including a see through net. It’s numbered and comes with an autographed thank you card from Joel.

And as usual, the reminder that these are mostly all recent small-label 80’s/90’s movies, so get the episodes on disk NOW, before Anything Can Happen.
With two major digital services already having bit the dust in the same month last summer, I’m sure a few “Digital is the wave of the future, because the kids today don’t like disks!” folks are giving themselves well-deserved kicks in the hinder, and we should already know by now that Nothing Netflix Lasts Forever.
(Y’know, ’18 could just be the year we finally win the War. It’s already like the advance of the Russian front.)

To quote a great MST3K guest star, “Amazing, every single word you said was wrong.”

Nice, Blu-ray! I’ll be getting it; even though I still subscribe to Netflix so I could stream them, it would be nice to have a physical copy.
Hopefully the upcoming season has some ’90s movies. Those ended up being some of my favorites from the first series run (Final Sacrifice, Time Chasers, Merlin’s Shop of Mystical Wonders, Werewolf, Soultaker, etc.)

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this announcement since I don’t have Netflix and have been itching to join in the discussion. With the early shipping thanks to pre-ordering, I should be receiving this just as we’re finishing Season 10 in the weekly episode discussion. The timing couldn’t have been better!

Damn… those are great bonus features. Now I’m sad. And I remembered that I specifically didn’t order it as an add-on because I didn’t know there would be extra features on the Kickstarter version, and figured my buying the commercial release directly from Shout instead would help them out more from a business perspective (sales numbers, et all). Oh well.

Still here? Let me change my tactic:

I didn’t realize saying “Get them on your shelf now, before they disappear like Soultaker” would be so unpopular. I apologize to anyone I have offended, and will go home to watch my Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

All 11 episodes in one package? Looks like the price is gonna be steep. It would be nice if they sold them in packages of 4 as well.

It’s 14 episodes for about the price of four ($56 for DVD, $80 for blu, probably cheaper once it hits Amazon) If they broke it up into four episode sets at the price those normally run, it would be a lot more.

Well, in addition to your point on this post being *completely* inaccurate (as has been shown), my constant plea is less directed at any one specific post of yours, and more at just you being you.
Enjoy your DVD. Fire it up from now on every time you get the urge to be snarky and condescending. Which I imagine is pretty often.

Never thought we’d ever see a bulk formal release of MST episodes for an entire season. Guess it helps to get full rights to the movies for riffing and release when you have to do them all at once.

Geez, let’s cut EricJ some slack, huh? . . . because he’s not alone in his thinking. If you think he’s snarky, then don’t you think that’s at least partly the result of the “Streaming is the wave of the future, physical media is for old-timers and losers” snark that some others propagate?
You like streaming? Fine. But the only way you’ll ever have a guarantee that you control it is to have the physical copy. I’ve got no problem with people who would prefer to stream, I just don’t want to see companies cease to create DVDs for those of us who buy them.
Actually, the best news coming from Shout! releasing the complete Season 11 less than a year after the Netflix debut is for those of us who DID buy the Kickstarter Season 11 set. My fear was that, going forward with Season 12 without needing another Kickstarter, that subsequent seasons might not be released in a timely manner, or spread out over four-episode packages for years to come. Hopefully, this will be Shout!’s approach going forward, releasing complete season packages in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you, Shout! Factory!
