Coming Next Year: The Episode Guide Project

If there is one section of this site that is incomplete in a major way, it’s our episode guide. The basic info is there, but we have only found the time to add comments (which people seem to like) on the first three seasons.

Beginning next week, that is going to change. We’ll be setting up a seprate blog page and I will begin doing commentary, one episode a week, begining with episode 401.

And here’s where you come in: We will turn on comments for that page and you will be invited to add your thoughts. The best ones (decided by ME! ) will be included in the revised episode guide page. So be funny, be thoughtful, bring something to the table.

It seems to us that if this site should be doing anything, it should be finding a way to talk about, you know, the show.

So, you have a week to dig out your copy of episode 401- SPACE TRAVELERS and run through it (please don’t post based on a vague memory of it; get a fresh impression). We’ll begin discussing it after the New Year (probably Thursday). If you don’t have a copy, well, there are a lot of Rhino episodes in season four so you’ll be able to chime in then.

Very cool. It’ll be nice to actually talk about MST – even with all the cool happenings in MiSTiedom, currently.

Look for me to chime in here and there.

Nothing I like better than talking about the show with people who understand it!!

Ah, this would be excellent for me, since I’m approaching a complete collection of episodes.

I was thinking about making my own episode guide in fact. If I might contribute an idea from my own, I think it might be useful to rate the episodes, separately, for the benefit of fans and newcomers. Manos is awesome if you’re a fan of MST3K, but I’ve shown it to people who’ve never heard of the show before and they’ve usually fallen asleep or walked away before the halfway point, because the episode depends on the viewer being on the guys’ side, among other things. On the other hand, Cave Dwellers and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians are accessible to most anyone.

That’s one of my all-time favourites!! 401 is the first episode I saw at first airing (ie, not taped by a friend and then watched the next day) so it holds a special place in my heart.

  7. This just reminds me that I need to get back to *my* MST3K episode guide, which never got further than the KTMA season:

Please include lots of trivia about the actors and things said during the show. Oh please mention all the special little things like this is the last time joel/mike wears what color jump suit, fifth time someone says “hi keeba”, oldest film showm, newest film shown, 9th episode b/w film shown etc etc etc.

    Thats great news!
I hope you will allow it to be as all-encompassing as possible.

I love the earlier season comments, but frankly, they can use some more material.
There certainly is more to be said about the ktma through season 3 episodes.

Why not open up the roundtable for all the seasons, not just 4 and up?

I’ve been thinking that once we get through all the other seasons (a big chore that’ll take years at an episode a week) we can circle back and re-examine the ones I’ve already done.

  17. Good to hear. The comments for KTMA – 3 were excellent. How long has it been since anything was done for it? Years?
