The reason they riffed this one, pretty much summed up in one line.
(That, and they’ve just discovered the mother-crapload distributor of cheesy 90’s-00’s kids’ films from PD direct-video studios, so anything with a unicorn or wizards in it is time to dust off the leather Renfest mugs.)
Have to admit, though, when you actually feel sorry for Rik (“Grim Tales”) Mayall, the movie’s not in great shape.

So this is their 3rd movie from the same director? In about as many weeks.
I think kid’s movies are kinda of an easy target for riffing, since they aren’t meant to be particularly good to begin with.

Ah yes. Good to hear from the K. Gordon Murray school of filmmaking …

The character on the cover bears an unfortunate resemblance to an aging, island-bound Luke Skywalker photographed in unflattering light. It would seem The Force was not with this movie, but on a positive note it might make a vaguely related reason to visit Carhenge outside of Alliance, Nebraska. The ’52 Willys pickup perched over two Cadillacs is a Kodak moment all by itself.

I think it’s bad when your craft declines from “Breeders.” This movie, “Merlin”, is technically worse than “Little Unicorn,” but makes up for it with more goofiness and more people you sadly recognize.

Makes me wonder if they got some kind of “bundle” deal on the rights. Anyway, love the Magic: The Gathering joke in the trailer, since we MtG players are the nerdiest of the nerds.
