Perhaps best remembered by American audiences as put-upon camp leader Morty in 1979’s “Meatballs,” MSTies will recall that he played Jud in the movie in episode K20- THE LAST CHASE.
Thanks to Tim for the heads up.

Very sad……..I still consider “Meatballs” to be one of the most underrated films of Bill Murray’s career.
A perfect ‘popcorn’ movie that is goofy, silly fun…….but in the end, endearingly entertaining.
LOVE the sub-story of camp counselor “Tripper Harrison” (Bill Murray) who befriends the shy “Rudy Gerner” (Chris Makepeace, in a nicely understated performance) character, turning a ‘bust’ of a summer, into one his character would never forget.
For those of us who actually attended summer camp in our youth, Bill Murray’s character represents the kind of cool counselor we would have KILLED to have as our ‘guy’, back in the day.
Sadly, Harvey Atkin’s passing marks the second loss of an actor from this particular cast….Keith Knight, as “Fink” (friend of the “Spaz” character), died back in 2007 at a much too young 51.
Summer camp will never be quite the same without you, ‘Morty’……

For a number of people, Harvey Atkin will be better known as King Koppa from the DIC Super Mario Bros. cartoons..
