i have one word for the film, and good is not it.
Downloading it now. Can’t wait!
Hell, I could do THAT! Wow. :poop:
I just watched it. Phenomenal.
I bought this years ago at cheesyflix dot com,way before I saw Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny, and it was a hard one to get through. It still is,even with Rifftrax. It’s a life draining, soul sucking movie.I don’t know if you could call it a movie.I mean, there is a camera and people in front of it and they’re reciting lines and there is a story I suppose, but it doesn’t feel like a movie. It feels more like a play that someone decided to film..This so called movie has the same feel, the same drabness, the same pain like Castle of Fu Manchu,Monster A Go Go,The Beast of Yucca Flats and Invasion of the Neptune Men combined….Rifftrax gave it their all I suppose, but still,it’s not a trip I want to take any time soon..not for a long while…oh,the pain, the pain..
With RT going through the whole Barry Mahon-ography to keep Ice Cream Bunny’s fan-money going, at some point, we probably WILL see a riffing of Knockers McCalla.
(I only counted three “Y’know, the guy did Ice Cream Bunny!” references in the clip, how many in the whole thing?)
It’s a shame, because The Wonderful Land of Oz, L. Frank Baum’s 2nd book in his Oz series, really is great material for a good movie. To director Mahon’s credit, his story line is faithful to the book. However, this is an awful movie, and I bought the RT last night and thoroughly enjoyed the riffing.
By the way, “Return to Oz” (1985 – Fairuza Balk, Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh; dir. Walter Murch) is very good.
No it isn’t.

LOL. “None of the joys of the Judy Garland film.” And not a single tune you’ll walk out of the theater whistling! It’s a travesty, I tells ya.
Is it a fairyland happydance movie? No.
Is it a very good movie? Yes.
Well, let’s agree to disagree.
Meanwhile, the “Carnival of Souls” Rifftrax Live is available at rifftrax.com.
Enjoy. :-)
Plan to buy this week. Got too busy over the weekend, but the preview clip on Rifftrax.com has me eager to get it.
Will definitely buy it, but will wait until Rifftrax announces a Valentine’s or President’s Day discount and load up on 2-3 pix. They had an Inauguration Day sale, which was a surprise. Everyone is so hyper-sensitive lately, there were probably complaints. Why can’t we have “PEACE..HEAVENLY PEACE?”
The Andy Daly/Don Dimello references made me… very very happy. I am a bad person.
LOVE Return to Oz from 85. I wish Disney would do a wide release on the blu ray. Just have the DVD. It’s Henson magic all the way. beautiful wonder creepy 80s children cinema.
For a second I thought they were doing the animated Oz done by FIlmation. Journey Back to Oz. I have that DVD too. I remember watching it in the day with host segments featuring Bill “here drink this” Cosby and some kids in a hot air balloon. Bad when I loved the ‘cos. :(
Anyway, I still haven’t braved Bunny or this. But these are high on the list. :)
Finally bought it yesterday. Great riffing but man what an effed up movie.
Really?? In a RiffTrax? Tell me more!
