I and two of my friends are going to the February 18th show in Yonkers, NY. I didn’t want to disappoint Trace and Frank. :-)

Kind of off-topic: The Rifftrax guys won’t be making another shorts package at the SF Sketchfest, but Mike and Bill will be participating in the Plan 9 from Outer Space staged reading. Maybe Frank and Trace will poke their heads in there too, who knows.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to the NY shows. The weather has been very unpredictable and I’m not good at winter driving.
Any chance you could come to NJ, guys?

I recently saw them in Austin and they put on a fantastic set of shows over 2 nights! Very nice in person too and willing to sit and shoot the breeze with their fans before each show. Enjoyed it so much I might try to swing San Antonio this time around too.

I saw them in Milwaukee last year. They don’t just set up an autograph table. They were mingling with the crowd pre-show. They simply could not have been any friendlier or accessible.

…and just in case you haven’t heard, you WON’T see them on RetroTV any longer. Just found out that they no longer show MST3K on Saturdays and Sundays. Boo…..

On a Trace/Frank MST3K era related note, I found an interview with the writer of “Time Walker” (aka “Being From Another Planet”) in the book “It Came From the 80s!”
Here’s what Tom Friedman said, “It’s been a few years since I’ve seen ‘Time Walker.’ I saw it once in the version created for ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K).’ The result was horrifying. The specific purpose of that version was to make fun of the movie and belittle it.” (p. 268)
Do with that what you will. :-)

Does anyone in NJ get Comet Tv or Retro Tv? I’ve tried three digital-boosted antennas and can’t get Any signal (sigh…) Someone told me Comet streams on their website, but i don’t know if that’s live ( & ROKU doesn’t carry them). :-(

At the last show they did in Denver, that was asked of them (I assume it’s asked every show). They said they enjoy the live performance with an audience and right now have no plans to release anything. My guess is when they retire a riff they might, but that could take years. I’d also guess they could set something up through Rifftrax when that day comes, but that’s based on assumptions more than anything else.

Good News:…COMET TV IS live streamed on it’s Website for MST3K fans who want to watch it there. You Can also watch COMET Tv on your ROKU, by opening a free account on “Pear Tv’s” website and then adding Comet Tv to your “Pear” Library. PEAR also has an “all MST3K” channel, which i haven’t watched yet, but it may be the same as the one streaming on PLUTO TV.

Interesting, I asked them that at the very first show they did in Chicago and they said releasing something on video was a whole other level of licensing rights they would have to get as opposed to just performing live. It was their first show so maybe they wanted to see how it would go first…

I’d really love to see these guys come to upstate NY and do a show in Rochester or Buffalo. I’m sure plenty of MSTies from Syracuse and Buffalo would travel to Rochester, or in the case of Buffalo, it’s pretty much equidistant to Toronto and Rochester.
