The Friday Night Show (featuring “Blood of the Vampire”) was AWESOME. Hilarious from beginning to end, this was true MST3K/CT prime material. My wife and 3 kids (20, 16, 13) had great seats (there weren’t any bad seats) and we have not laughed so hard and so long in such a long time.
This was an amazing experience… to see and hear it again, fresh, new and LIVE– what memories were brought back and what memories were created!
But most importantly- after the show- after entertaining us for 2+ hours, they came out and did the meet-n-greet. All 5 were tremendously coridal and friendly and tok time to talk to any who wanted to talk (although Frank seemed a little quieter- perhaps not feeling well). Maybe we were lucky to be toward the front of the line, but while everyone was waiting to start the signings and handshakers to start- my usually shy wife was out of line to snap that picture with any of the CT group, and Joel started just yakking with her and my wife talked to him about how we had first caught his stand up career and thought he was great then- wow, did the friendly chat and pictures go… And yet, everyone got the same treatment.
Of course, once my wife mentioned we were teachers Trace and Joel really beamed and chatted quickly… yet, the whole line moved.
I have been to a couple comic cons and seen the celebrities start friendly but get colder after so many greetings and “god, I love your show…” but these guys were unbelievably friendly from start to finish.
I also appreciate that, maybe, MST3K fans aren’t quite so “geeky” as rabid fans of other shows (even if Mysties are rabid fans).
Again, what else can you say when the 5 stars who entertained us for 2+ hours (and 20+ years) shake hands and keep thanking the fans for coming… when we are thanking them for entertaining us.
    A great time.

Glad you all liked the show. I had a blast at the Boston one. During the post show meet and greet everyone was gracious, but Frank was very quiet – I think that is the norm for him. Nothing bad about that, he may just be shy.

Great show. I went with my girlfriend who has never watched MST3K and did not know what to expect. She loved it and laughed the whole time. Great show from beginning to end.

I drove up from Pittsburgh and had a blast! The show was terrific, the movie perfect and the riffing spot-on. The Gruber warm-up was fun, along with a couple of the CT crew. There was a good crowd, more mixed (less nerdy) then i expected. The Titans mentioned MJP’s birthday and even brought out a cake for her at the end.

I also appreciated their working the line–i could see many people had a great time meeting them, and they were unfailingly and enthusiastically pleasant to all. They certainly have my respect and gratitude.

Excellent! Just excellent! My wife and I drove down from Detroit just for the show (Trace was a little surprised about that one) and it was a ton of fun.

I can’t really add any words to what has already been written here, but I can point you to my wife’s Flickr page of shots from the show…

I made it out, and it was pretty good. Honestly, the riffs seemed kind of forced, but it was still worthwhile.

Just got back from the show. Fantastic. Great seats (1st row, balcony) My wife even liked it so it had to be good. Horrible movie, excellent riffing. Waited an hour ro meet the Titans and they were all freindly and funny. Trace coughed before shaking my hand and blamed it on the plague. Can’t wait for their next show anywhere within 250+ miles of Cleveland. I’ll be there.

  11. Prior to the event, Joel contacted longtime local horror host, Keven (Son of Ghoul) Scarpino, and invited him down to the show on Friday. Per his request, Keven supplied the theater with photos of all the hosts from
Cleveland’s nearly 50 year history and went over them with Joel before the show, so he’d have all the names and information down properly. Joel opened the CT portion of the evening talking about Cleveland as a Mecca for horror hosts, and introducing each as they flashed on the big theater screen. A big round of applause for Ghoulardi – followed by varying levels of enthusiasm for Hooliahn & Big Chuck, Big Chuck & Lil’ John, Super Host, The Ghoul & Son of Ghoul. Keven said he
was expecting crickets mixed with a few boos, but the clap-o-meter actually put him a little lower than Super Host and a bit better Lil’ John.

Then Joel said, “We’re honored tonight to have a local legend in the audience. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Keven Scarpino, the Son of Ghoul.” Keven stood up and flashed the crowd the peace sign – at which point, he says, the place went berserk. “For a couple of
minutes, it was like The Beatles.” Apparently the crowd just roared. Keven was really taken back a bit. I was so happy to hear this, he
    deserves.

Joel warned Keven well ahead of time he wouldn’t have a chance to hang out after the show, as they’d be swamped with signings and such. So he wasn’t able to snag a photo with him or anything. But he was thrilled by the whole evening – and floored by how funny the group was – and genuinely touched by Joel’s genorosity of spirit. It was clearly a great evening all around for him.

Terrific show and great theater, to boot! My
wife and I did the drive up from Pittsburgh and it was well worth it. “The Dynamite Brothers” was a ‘can’t lose’ proposition as a film choice; I mean, really, a kung-fu-blax-ploitation film? Every one was exceedingly nice, with Trace and Joel being very talkative.
Mary Jo was surprised when we asked her to autograph her ‘Parents’ book (a funny read, seek it out). Joel mentioned that more live shows are in the works, with Pittsburgh being a possibility (hoo-ray!). Also, the opening bit with Josh and Gruber going off about WADD radio was a hoot!

I drove down from Detroit for the Saturday show in Cleveland. Where did they find this movie? The Dynamite Brothers is pure gold. The riffing was spot on and the show was fantastic.

The Titans were as gratious as usual after the show taking plenty of time to sign autographs, pose for pictures and chat with the fans.

Michael, thanks for pointing the background for Joel’s nod to the various Cleveland movie hosts. I didn’t realize until your post what a special and unique treat that was on Friday.

I was at both performances, and they far exceeded my expectations! Dynamite Brothers was definetely the funnier of the two, and a must-buy when they release it on DVD.

I got everyone to sign my MST Episode Guide on Friday (45 minute wait) and everyone was very nice… especially Joel who shook my hand before and after our picture was taken. I didn’t bother asking anyone anything since I figured they’ve heard all the same questions, but I made a point to tell each Frank and Trace that together they are my favorite comedic duo, and I also thanked Joel for creating such a wonderful show.

Saturday was my first CT show as well.

Dynamite Brothers was a horrible movie, so it was ready-made for riffing.

I had a great time, other than the guy behind me who felt the need to yell “WOOOOOOOO!!!” after every joke. It got old really quick.

The CT crew was such a class act. I forgot to bring any DVDs/books along, so I bought one of the silhouette photos and no I have a signed picture here at work.

    Till next time……….

I drove from Pittsburgh also! Kerry – it is good to hear the burgh is a possibility! I was going to ask them – but I got way too nervous! And the guy in front of me spent a LONG time talking, and they wanted to move the line along, so I felt like I should hurry and get my pictures and tell them they were great. I had so many things to say and couldn’t think of any words at all. I went totally blank. So hopefully they will come to Pittsburgh really soon!!

What an amazing experience to see this live. Surreal!!

Longtime fan of MST3K, first CT show, and it was HILARIOUS. My sides actually hurt after the show I was laughing so hard. Definitely worth the “unchanged since the theater opened”, price of admission. Great warm up by Gruber and Josh as well.

The Cleveland Duo of shows were great and to say that The Titans were kind and more then nice would be like selling the amazing two movie choices short of very, very, very bad.

I prefered the Friday show, not just because it was first but I prefered the movie (what to do for a third act? Incest and Ghosts!) and my dead center balcony seat with the movie projector right in front of me. The Saturday night show was also cool (hey look…racism!) although sharing a couch with three other people would not be my favorite seating arrangement but the theatre was wonderful and sold out the second show as well.

I got my MST3K gear signed so the next time they roll on the East Coast, I will will get his CT stuff in gear and head on out on a Phish like voyage. Next time the PA crew will have to buy some pie and get Torgo to deliver it to warm up before the show.

Overall the live experience was quite cool and the cast was way beyond that. Thanks!
