Stick with the shorts….because the shorter the better! Ha! Ha! Ha!

    More Rifftrax Ad Naseum!

“Here at rifftrax, we churn ’em out faster than sausage links…and the same amount of love and care go into them! Now eat ’em up and shut your pie holes!”

I can’t wait until they start releasing a rifftrax every day, and then every hour, and then every minute!!!

Come buy our mediocre crap morons!

Okay, I guess I should stop before Connor@rifftrax has to come around and start belitting everyone again. I wouldn’t want him to feel “cold and dirty” again.

    What a prick!

At this point, Sampo, you might as well change the name of this website to rifftraxbashing.com. It’s all people seem to do here. Very depressing – I’m not reading the threads anymore. For what it’s worth (which admittedly isn’t much), I still find Mike and the guys extremely funny and will continue to support them. Guess that makes me a moron.

Damn right #5. every damn board. no matter what the subject, jerks come in and assume that their opinion counts more than anyome elses.
michael nelson is one of the funniest, talented people around in my opinion.
i usually ignore the people who disagree but when they come into a thread (Jaws) and pretty much announce they are going to be a jerk because they dont think rifftrax is funny…. im saying:no more,i’m firing back.
for example, “the shorter the better”. i know it took you a while to think that up and your proud of it and all…but isnt that what your girlfriend says?
i’ll be here all week. tip your waitresses.

What is really funny is that either “the Shorter the better” is full of crap and doesn’t actually watch the shorts or rifftrax OR he continues to buy a product he hates for the sole reason of trashing it… He is like the people that claim that the Simpsons hasn’t been funny for ten years and that you would only know that by wasting your time watching it for the last ten years. If you don’t like it don’t watch it and move on.

  9. “He is like the people that claim that the Simpsons hasn’t been funny for ten years and that you would only know that by wasting your time watching it for the last ten years.”

Actually, we only need to check in periodically to know that. I’ve saved 9 1/2 of the last 10 years that way.

And it’s still *occasionally* funny, which is why we come back every so often . . .

I’ll admit that most of the last few shorts releases have been somewhat underwhelming, but I’d hardly call them terrible. For my own part, I’d say the problem has more to do with high expectations than low talent.

@#5 OD’ing: I don’t think it’s that bad, and I would suggest that folks simply ignore the bashers.

I might also suggest that those who have sworn eternal hatred against the RiffTrax guys might want to have the courage to go to THEIR message board and vent, rather than piss people off here, but, again, ignoring them is probably better course.

And, for those who were wondering, the “Jaws” thread only had a small sock-puppet element. To “I Huge,” “Patrick,” “BitterEnd” “John” and “Jeff,” it’s nice to know that you agree with yourself.

Yes, I too am a simpleton and unsophisticated man. I’ve recently discovered this about myself from reading the threads.

I find my self getting a good laugh from everything Rifftrax produces. I guess only morons would find their jokes amusing.

What is weird is that I also get a good laugh from everything CinematicTitanic produces as well. How can an easily amused simpleton like myself understand the complex sophisticated humor of CinematicTitanic?

    Weird!

Neither side of this silly Rifftrax argument is right. Truthfully, i would understand the anger about the negative comments about Rifftrax a bit more were this actually a rifftrax site…but it isn’t. This is a site about MST3K and, let’s face it, we’re going to have different opinions about post-MST3K projects. Sure, the anti-rifftrax messages were a bit out of hand but it’s not like any of the responses from the pro-rifftrax people were any less pompus, rude and ugly then the messages they were referencing.

So next time you feel like posting a nasty comment about the topic at hand or another person just repeat to yourself, “it’s just an internet message board, i should really just relax”. We’ll be much better off.

  14. What I still don’t get it how people complain that Rifftrax “pumps out” too many and too often. They usually come out a week apart, if not two weeks to a month apart… as I recall, there are entire seasons of Mystery Science Theater that had episodes released a week from each other. Once a week… but it’s “official” MST3k, so once a week is fine, where Rifftrax once a week is not?!?!

Personally, I don’t think they release Rifftrax often enough to make me truly happy. I would be up for twice a week, as long as they mixed in some more variety in the types of movies.

i call BS. all the rifftrax fans want is to be left alone and enjoy a thread about rifftrax.
but No. some jerks who think they are the arbitors of mst3k come in and impose thier will.

come entertain us. a youtube? a blog? is that it? did you try to tell your gf that?
did my GF comment embarrass you?
come on “the shorter the better” tell us again how rifftrax sucks.

  17. Instead of fomenting further tension, maybe we should have a straightforward discussion of what specific elements we do or don’t appreciate in whatever we happen to be talking about.

For example, after finally getting around to watching it, I thought this short was better than a number of recent ones. And I think a key element of this is that it was a kid-oriented short: things aimed at children tend to have more absurdity to riff on, because they’re ostensibly supposed to grab a child’s attention and therefore have to be flashy, over-the-top, or just silly – at least, more than would be the case for other films from their particular era.

In contrast, teen-oriented stuff – well, from the ’50’s at least – tries to treat its audience like adults or near-adults, which sets a more formal tone and leaves that era’s ludicrous interpretation of teen psychology as the only source of absurdity. That can be fun too, but it’s generally not quite as obvious or surreal as material aimed at younger folk.

The same trend applies to adult-oriented safety videos and such, although those usually have such melodramatic and/or hairbrained examples of people failing at life that it nicely balances out the formality. ‘Course, sometimes they also have that delightfully patronizing tone, and they often have jarring throwbacks to a much more simplistic culture (which may or may not have actually existed, depending) – both of which are also good sources of humor.

Three of the more recent shorts were teen-oriented “self-improvement” bits, which I tend to think of as falling flatter than the other cases I’ve mentioned here. Teen-oriented “you’ve been warned” shorts tend to be funnier, simply because they’re so overly dramatic and so clearly ignore the actual teen perspective.

And I’m still chuckling about *this* short.

from this site I’ve learned that you’re a complete moron if you’ve ever bought a Rifftrax. Or a CT dvd. Or the 20th Anniversary DVD set. Or any MST3K DVDs. Or liked any Sci-Fi channel episodes. Or like Mike. Or Joel. Have I made my point?
