The show was awesome. Perfect movie to riff. I didn’t stay to meet the Titans but I’m sure many did.
Can’t wait for tomorrow night. Maybe my other date won’t be a no-show this time.

Errr, which movie was this, again?

The movie was Blood of the Vampires, and the riffing was spot-on hilarious. Filipinos in offensive blackface = comedy gold! Mary Jo endearingly flubbed a few lines, which cemented her place in my heart.
We got an extended pre-show, too, with musical performances from Dave “Gruber” Allen, Josh, and Frank. (Josh does a killer Elvis Costello impression, and signed the set list I snagged from the stage, after he scolded me for snagging the set list from the stage.) Joel had a party in his pants, by way of invention exchange.
I have now met all five Titans. And I’m going again Saturday. God, you can kill me on Sunday, but don’t you kill me now.

The show was total awesomeness… I’m still recovering from how great it was. I got to meet all 5 (And get pictures taken with them) plus Gruber, all were incredibly cool and nice. ::Super MSTie Freak Out!::
I can’t wait for tonight’s show!!!

Wonderful show and can’t wait for the DVD. Trace said it would be out in March. Frank also missed at least one riff and I love they way they cheer each other on when they make a mistake. I almost lifted Joel’s empty Diet Coke off can off the stage for laughs, but didn’t bother in the end.
I went with some not MSTie friends and they still loved it. I wish I could go tonight and see the other movie. Is it going to be Dynamite Brothers?
It was great to finally meet these guys and can’t wait until they come out here again!

The jokes were great and the whole audience was into it. Someone next to me didn’t laugh out loud but I think I more than made up for it.
There were some ridiculous moments in the movie where the Titans didn’t say a word which I’m thinking was their plan. They didn’t need to say, “Why bother making a joke”.
At the end the CT gang were very nice and personable with the fans. If anyone didn’t meet them last night try for after this Saturday’s show. Friday it seemed 98% of the audience were lined up throughout the theater. But it seemed to move smoothly.
In a word… HIL AR IOUS!!

I couldn’t make it to Friday’s show, but I am going to Saturday’s show. From the reviews above, it sounds like it’ll be fantastic! I was planning on arriving there at around 7:30pm, but I was wondering if I should perhaps get there earlier?

Weirdonian, it’s assigned seating, and the pre-show didn’t begin until 8:10 or so. I got there at 7:30, and didn’t have anything to do except stand up repeatedly to let other people get to their seats.

Show was really funny. I wish I was going tonight too. Makes me want a MST3K reunion even more.

Just got back from the Sat night show in Somerville. It was hilarious, blending blaxploitation and kung fu in “the Dynamite
Brothers”. Ancient Chinese secret! Boy, how can a
70s movie make a beautiful city like San Fran
seem so ugly! The theatre was a bit TOO cozy for those of us with some poundage (but hey, everyone weighed 90 pounds when it was built, OK?) –but anyway an excellent time, and I
took the opportunity to buy “Santa Conq the
Martians”

Saw the show last week in San Francisco – loved it. Great to see Joel, Trace, Josh, frank and Mary Jo have not lost their edge!

The show was great! Absolutely hilarious and getting to meet everyone after the show was the icing on the cake.
$35? I would have spent $135 for that!

I went to see “The Dynamite Brothers” last night & it was great. The opening act Gruber was excellent, especially the part involving the radio station that only plays the best part of the songs. The movie itself was cheesy in the best MST3K tradition & the riffs were mostly great & the audience was into it. My personal highlight was seeing a 1973 Ford Thunderbird in the movie just like the one my dad has. I only saw a glimpse of Mary Jo in the lobby before the show & I didn’t get to see the cast afterwards (there was a line circling around the place), but I had a great time.

I’m so depressed I missed it

Last night’s show in Somerville, MA was non-stop funny. First of all, Gruber was very funny doing shadow puppets to a Talking Head’s song as he set up the stage. As well as, his part with Josh as a warm up. Sadly, at the meeting greet, he was off to the side but people did approach him and he did sign things and was very friendly and cordial. He showed me someone’s Freaks and Geeks year book version with Josh’s picture in it. And speaking to me like he knew me for a long time which I really thought was cool! As far as the show, it was great seeing them all in person. And the timing of the comments was top-notch (and this was the 2nd time they covered this movie live? — not bad!) At the meeting greet, Trace stood and greeted every one and posed for pictures as did all. When I talked with MaryJo she made eye contact and seemed very interested in what I had to say. They were all very friendly and sincere and I can only imagine what a long process it is for them to do live shows such as this and sticking around to do a meet and greet that was a bonus. Hope to see them again next year and this time I’ll go to all of the shows.

Well all I have to say is “what a great show.” It was non-stop laughter. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. For years, my husband has been trying to get me to watch MST3K movies and even recently all the Cinematic Titanic movies –yes folks, he has bought them all and will continue every time a movie comes out! But now, after seeing last night’s show in Somerville, I plan to become an avid fan and faithfully watch the bots and the Titans. All I can say is that when they come around again, I will definitely go! I had only wished after last night’s show that I bought tickets for Friday’s show. And the seats we had were fantastic — right up front. In fact so close, that we got sprayed by their water!! What I appreciated was that you can tell the Titans love what they do and appreciate each other’s comments especially when they, like the audience, laugh at them. On another note, even though we had to wait outside of the theater for a short period of time to line up for the meet and greet, it was well worth it. They were all so very nice and you could tell they were anxious to meet their fans, as well as we were to meet them

I saw The Dyanamite Brothers last night, and I have to say sorry to Rotten as British Teeth. I didn’t have twice as much fun.
I had at least ten times as much fun!
The movie was perfect for riffing and the CT crew delivered. The only time the audience wasn’t laughing at a riff was when we were too hoarse or still lauging from the previous one.
Here’s a summary of the movie’s qualifications:
Fat, sweaty cop? Check! (No, not him!)
’70s fashion? Check!
’70s cars? Check!
’70s stereotypes? Check!
Relatively good actor in a baaad role? Check! (James Hong)
Inappropriate product placement? Check!
Inappropriate flashbacks? Check!
Poorly lit scenes? Check!
Poorly blocked scenes? Check!
Poorly mic’ed scenes? Check!
Poorly paced scenes? Check!
Poorly placed props? Check!
Redundant scenes? Check!
Bad acting? Check!
Bad stunt work? Check!
Plot, dialog, action holes you could drive a truck through? Check!
and many, many more…
My recommendation? If you haven’t seen CT live do Dynamite Brothers, check where it’s playing next (and not yet sold out). If you live in that area, go. If not, move there.

I have to agree, that was an extremely awesome show! The riffing was spot-on, the movie itself was so goofy, and Somerville Theater was a very good venue choice! And as far as I could tell, there really wasn’t a bad seat in the house.
Most of the audience, including myself, stayed for the meet & greet. The line was long, but they did have the good sense to snake it inside instead of keeping us all waiting outside in the cold. I actually liked spending more time admiring the 90-year-old theater while in line, there’s a ton of history written there in its walls. I cringed just a bit with some of the poor choices that various remodelers had made over the years, but it didn’t diminish the beauty of the place much.
The meet & greet was short but incredibly sweet. I now have all five of their autographs and “The Doomsday Machine” DVD. If they ever return to this neck of the woods, I’d go again in a heartbeat, and I’d plan on going both nights instead of just the one!

AWE-SOME!!!
They were really fun shows. I saw both nights. Good stuff, really funny. Loved meeting them all afterwards, they take their time to talk to each and every fan that passes by them. Even met RAD, – HI RAD!! (very nice guy).
I’d love to see them again at some point, and I’m definitely buying those two DVD’s.
Joel: (I might be paraphrasing): “It’s great to be in Boston.” (applause) “Not the city, I actually joined the band Boston. I’m their new lead singer.”

My wife and I just got back to Etna, Maine after spending the night in Boston to see the show. It was hilarious. I can’t say enough about the show. We haven’t laughed that hard in ages. The live show really adds something to the experience that I didn’t really think it would. Whether its being in an audience of like minded fans, or the CT crew playing to the audience in a way that can only happen live, but there was an extra energy there that made it a non-stop laugh-fest.
We didn’t hang around for the meet and greet as the line was quite long, but I did catch a glimpse of the crew hanging out in the lobby. The movie itself was awesome – “If you ever wanted to know what it would be like for your dad and a hooker to make out, well here you go.”, “Stud and Sarah. Sarah and Stud.”, “Its impossible to take your jacket off, when you’re handcuffed to another guy!” At the beginning, the film just started to roll and Joel asked for a water, so instead of Gruber or one of the staff bringing him one, Trace grabs one of his and bolts across the stage and hands it to Joel, who then quips “You probably want to get back there.” It was a little thing, but it was just another way to see how the CT gang still keep it real after all these years. There was a little throwdown to the Rifftrax crew as at the beginning Joel referred to the other CTers as the best movie riffers in the world. I sense a gang war coming!
On a personal note, the show really capped off a great weekend. My wife and I spent the weekend in Boston celebrating our 10th anniversary. I introduced her to MST3K on our second date, and we used to (ok still do) cuddle on the couch and watch the show. This just seemed a great way to celebrate our anniversary, and it was. I hope they continue to do the touring and come back around again!

Hey, just got back to my computer. And I must say they were in top form in Boston. Blood of the Vampires is perfect for them. Dynamite Brothers was great too. And they are kind to a fault, signed my ACEG and Wasp Women with grace.

I attended the Friday show and was thrilled. When I shook Trace’s hand and mentioned that I’d trekked up from the Bronx, he said, of course, “You must leave the Bronx,” and then talked about that episode with me for a minute or two. I was amazed that after a two-hour performance these guys were so friendly and welcoming to their fans. One of those rare times when meeting someone you really admire goes just as well as you could hope for!

All last week before the show on Sat. I thought of all kinds of things I wanted to ask about. But I never got around to asking. Things like…….
1. Will we ever see a Tom Servo in the box sets from Shout, or a Gypsy or S.O.L for that matter?
2. How do you pick the movies used on C.T.?
3. Any chance of any biker movies in the future?
4. Are there any movies with music you could riff on, or do music to like in Side Hackers?
5. Will C.T. do any shorts,or add to shorter films for filler?
6.Will any of the stuff done before the live shows ever be available on disk?( Franks stuff was great and Josh really killed with the songs he did,as well as Dave (Gruber) Allen. I think it would bring back a special feeling to all who went to the live shows.)
7. How about a C.T.Live show on disk filmed from the back of a venue that shows what it’s like to experience a live show?
8.If Shout isn’t going to do any toys/action figures would someone like McFarlane Toys or Spawn or even Hallmark ornaments do any M.S.T. stuff? (Think of it, a mini S.O.L. or Pearls V.W.Bus to hang from your mirror.)
Anyway thats just a few things I wanted to ask. I would like to say thanks to all at C.T. and the Somerville Theater for a great night out for my wife and our friend. I hope they come back soon, maybe one show a year would be great. If they do come back we will go to all the shows.

Wow…Wow…Wow…
Just got back from Boston (the worst city to drive in–ever. Sorry Bostonians).
Both shows far exceeded my already incredibly high expectations.
Blood of the Vampires–non-stop hilarity. And the Dynamite Brothers was just as good.
Meeting the cast was a dream come true. They were all so kind and lovely, esp. Joel. Got a nice pic of me and Joel and the cutest pic ever of my girlfriend with Frank.
I will post a slightly longer review here after I get some sleep.
Watching CT live is as good as watching any MST ep. Trust me!

I was wondering, will they have a t-shirt after this tour? I wanted to get one Sat. night for my friend and they had none for sale. If they have them on the web site soon I’ll get him one and one for me too.And maybe just maybe one for all my little Hellcats.

Hmm, I posted a link saying the shirts were on the website, but it turns out those were 2008 shirts.

#35 – Agreed about the driving. And nowhere to park either! I just took a cab from the hotel. No sense screwing around with traffic.

I saw Blood of the Vampire on Friday the 20th, and I’m still geeking-out over how wonderful it was. It just made my year. And the fact that it was Joel’s birthday made it all the more special. I’ll be paying attention for when they next come to Boston.

I came to the Saturday show. This was my first time going to a CT live show, and I was simply amazed. The riffing was top-notch and the opening act was hilarious! Meeting the Titans, however, almost didn’t happen because the subway closed at 12:00 and by the time I could see the cast, it was 12:40. Despite the constraints, and thanks to a few fellow fans who understood the problem let us go ahead, I got autographs from them. I was tongue-tied when I finally got up to the table. I was just shocked that I was meeting them in person. Trace was first, and he autographed my Vol. 3 MST box set. J. Elvis came next, and he autographed a “Servo head” model candy dispenser that I bought. Mary Jo and Frank signed the box set also, and Joel autographed both . I got it all on video.

Hey this just came up on the news here in Boston. U2 is doing a show at the Sommerville Theatre. After the C.T.gang heated the place up this little known band from Ireland wants to see if they can sell the place out. Maybe they can play and C.T. can riff on the show and Gruber and josh could do the 10 min. warm up.

did anybody ask them if they will be releasing dynamite brothers? i thought the show was great, but i go into some sort of shell shock when in huge crowds for too long and by the time i got to the front of the line, i probably looked like i was going to puke on them i felt so crowd-sick. maryjo looked very sympathetic, i think she could just tell… anyway i was afraid opening my mouth would cause some of them to break out the umbrellas, so i just gave them a nauseated smile. hope they understood that i really loved the show even though i couldn’t seem to show it.

I did and Joel said it would be the next film they’d do after Blood of the Vampires comes out.(3/19) If you look the shows they did at the end of 2008 it was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks and
Blood of the Vampires. Joel said with the live shows the try the riffs out and then do the DVD.
I don’t know if with each DVD they will tour or not. I do know Frank has shows with Cartoon Dump he does live and it would be cool to see that on DVD.
I do hope they do some biker films, shorts or something with music they could riff on.
