Placed my order. I love the Mads new podcast. I hope Frank’s book is of the same vein.

Frank!!!!
Just ordered! Frank’s contributions to The Amazing Colossal Episode Guide were fantastic – can’t wait to read this!

“It’s a story that will stay with you the rest of your life, if you happen to die just as you finish reading the book.”
The cover makes him look kind of like Zero Mostel, I think?

Just ordered mine,too…

Ordered my copy. It looks like a fun, silly book and I’m always happy to throw a little money in the direction of my favorite comedians.

I always really liked Frank’s entries on the Cinematic Titanic blog (and had the pleasure of telling him so at a signing after a CT show). The man knows and loves film, both good and bad, and his thoughts are always both funny and insightful.
So yep, I’ve ordered my copy too.

Kewl, and a hardy congratulations, Frank!
I live for news like this. I can’t get enough MST3K tie-in products/projects. If that makes me a zombie Mysterion fan-boy, then so be it.
(“I’m not afraid anymore!” – bed-wetter kid from Donnie Darko.)
Supporting projects by any of the MST3K alumni is not only good karma in the bank, but is a solid vote for entertainment quality and sanity over the current media wasteland of bad sitcoms, reality television, film remakes, bad books, and derivative, brain-clogging mediocrity.
Good on you, Frank!
(I do hope, Frank, that somewhere in your book, you revealed that Harold P. Warren – deceased director of Manos: The Hands of Fate – became a tutelary spirit for you, similar to what the spirit of Philip K. Dick did for Bishop James Albert Pike. Such spirits can be very helpful in helping one decide what kind of pizza to order from the Great Beyond.)

edit: Above, I typo’d/switched
Pike’s and Dick’s names.
James Pike was a tutelary spirit to Philip K. Dick. Read the ~inspired~ The Transmigration of Timothy Archer by PKD.)

@Cam: I’ll grant that it’s been a rough couple of years for film, but are you really having a hard time finding something good to watch on TV? I’m hard-pressed to think of a time when there have been as many quality shows available as what FX, AMC, HBO, and Netflix have been putting out these past few years.
I can think of one show in particular that I’m looking forward to on Netflix.

TV’s Frank has a very weird sense of humor. Needless to say (would I be here otherwise?), I like that in a person.

Ordered mine. It will have a hallowed place next to my copies of ‘Mike Nelson’s Movie Megacheese’ and Kevin Murphy’s ‘A Year At The Movies’.

I just bought the Kindle version (which you may want to add a link to). At any rate, just wanted to let people know there’s at least one ebook option, if not more.

I did not state I was experiencing any difficulty finding good things to watch.
No arguments on pay television having many good shows, as well as web-tv. (My current addiction via internet is Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, a genius mix of cars and comedy and personalities that I’m only just now getting around to viewing.)
I guess I didn’t make myself clear: I was jabbing OTA stations/networks and their current schedules of new shows.
Traditional non-pay TV. Dance competition. Talent shows. Singing shows. Olympic overkill. Bachelor shows. Bad sitcoms. Two Broke Girls. More brainless local news. Forensic shows. Law shows. etc.
Though I did thoroughly enjoy Hannibal, and it was aired on broadcast television. I would have preferred one more season instead of the forced quick shutdown, but apparently the ratings numbers weren’t high enough.
If I’m not watching Netflix, I have a lot of luck with retro stations like Decades, Comet, METV, composed of tried and true reruns, ranging from MASH to Star Trek.
So, unless you’re defending the likes of American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, we probably agree more than disagree.

Amazon currently lists it as out of stock. I’m taking that as a good omen.

I was going to buy a copy this weekend, but Amazon says it’s out of print. Darn it.

I snooze I lose. Sold out on Amazon. I was looking for a few more things to add to my order. Any other place to order this? It’s not at Barnes & Noble.

I like it better on PodBean. The app is great and you can download podcasts. I like listening them when driving.

I know some shows you can’t download at Sound Cloud, but I’ve been able to download all of the Mads stuff.

Forgive my enthusiasm. I’m just very satisfied with PodBean.

@Cam: Ah, fair enough then. I think Bob’s Burgers is excellent, but I’m pretty hard-pressed to think of any other over-the-air shows I really like — there’ve been a few in recent years (Community, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Person of Interest, Agent Carter…), but they’ve all ended. Colbert has his moments but he’s not as good on The Late Show as he was on The Colbert Report.

Bob’s Burgers is well written and “under known.”
Sort of reminds me of how Futurama was not as well appreciated/valued as I thought it should have been.
I still miss Futurama.

This book is Frank’s Grumpy Old Manifesto, and I’m fine with that. I won’t say it’s the best thing I’ve ever read by one of the Brains, but I’ve laughed out loud a few time and found some of his thoughts on movies interesting.

I bought both the print and Kindle versions. :-)

Got it yesterday and am just a few chapters in. A couple laughs on each page, and I love how he goes off on tangents, and tangents on those tangents. Great bathroom reading. My only complaint is that it’s too short (less than 100 pages). Hopefully there will be a volume two.

I’ve been reading this out loud with my wife at bedtime, and she’s already insisting we read it again because she hates that she misses the last little bit every night as she falls asleep. It’s really delightful, loopy and digressive in all sorts of clever ways and self-deprecatingly charming (at the end of every chapter, the “Federal Bureau of Incoherence” explains all of the obscure references). We’re about halfway through now, having just read his essay on Monster-a-Go-Go.
My one tiny complaint is that there’s some obvious proofreading errors, usually of the autocorrect variety (“expecting” instead of “excepting”, that kind of thing). It’s not nearly enough to detract from the fun unless you’re extremely pedantic.

Just got my copy. I love it! I loved how the “Federal Bureau of Incoherence” just gives up about 3/4 of the way through the book [no spoilers now!]. I figured from the beginning that the “FBI” references would be a straightforward explanation of some of the weirder references Frank slipped in, but it turned out to be just as warped as the rest of the book.
Fantastic literary debut, Frank! We look forward to your next production!
