I can finally replace my last fan copy that has a Comedy Central bug and Penn Jilette voiceover. “She’s One Of The Guys” will NOT be on after “The Human Duplicators”!

Are we sure that it’s not simply about the money with Susan Hart? From what I understand, she’s blocking unMSTied releases of her films as well, suggesting this isn’t a Godzilla or Rocketship-XM situation where it’s a weird matter of principle from the rights holders.
I’m just amazed Track of the Moon Beast never popped up yet. I think it’s a case like Pumaman was for the longest time where they just haven’t been able to figure out who the rights holder even is.

Susan Hart just turned 75 in June. She could live another 20 years. By then, probably won`t be DVDs/BDs anymore.

Neptune Men, huzzah! I was thinking about that the other night while watching my new Rifftrax Attack from Space. Same idiotic goofiness. The Shout gods are good.

Duplicators and Escape are highlights for me. Have not seen all of Horror, but “horror” is how I’d describe Neptune Men. Besides Manos, Neptune Men is the only ep I have watched and felt sorry and somehow sad for everyone involved in MST3K for having to deal with such a monstrosity. I think I had to stop watching Neptune Men. Perhaps a second viewing will help, but I rate it at the bottom of my list along with Fu Manchu.
So-so for eps here but what I’m really interested in is what goodie might be offered as a pre-order bonus. Now that Shout has everything from Best Brains, something fun is likely, especially since the Shout sets (of classic eps) will be winding down soon. How about one or more of the lost KTMA eps? Or, perhaps there is something else unreleased that we don’t even know about? Regardless, Shout always does an excellent job with extras.

Horror of Party Beach! FINALLLY,FINALLY,FINALLY!I can go to my grave happy! Thank you Shout! ……just one more thing.

They’re all good eps but BIG YAYS for “Horror of Party Beach” and “Invasion of the Neptune Men” starring Space Chef!
It’s true that she’s blocking all releases of her holdings. But if anyone knows WHY she’s doing it, they’re not saying. If it’s money, she must want a ridiculous amount for the lid to remain shut on “The Amazing Colossal Man,” “Invasion of the Saucermen,” “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” and “It Conquered the World.”

Wasn’t Terror From the Year 5000 a Susan Hart episode too?

Yeah, the Susan Hart films are The Amazing Colossal Man, It Conquered The World, Terror From The Year 5000, I Was A Teenage Werewolf, and, possibly/probably, Attack Of The The Eye Creatures.

was looking on youtube and looks like KTMA version of Time of the Apes was taken down,
from this link of videos
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL46FE928E28FA9FD8
if you look at the video, this comes up:
This video contains content from Shout! Factory, LLC, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.
possible future release?

other places it comes up (Time of the Apes KTMA) but i wonder if Shout! is going to start releasing KTMA shows?
other KTMA shows were taken down (nothing that says own by Shout!) one of the Gamera shows is down (but we know what the issue is with that) KTMA show number 18 (The Million Eyes of Sumuru) is also block so is that going to be release (says by copyright now, who is not Shout!). makes me wonder.
also season 3 Time of the Apes is up (on MST3Kofficial youtube site).

I suspect there are so many issues with the content of the KTMA shows — clearances for the people calling in, just to name one thing — that they’ll never get an official release. I understood (read somewhere) that Jim Mallon had the KTMA tapes, and if he did unload all MST3K properties to Shout Factory, then Shout Factory now owns them, and would have standing to demand them be taken down.

@64, but i still find it interesting that the season 3 show is up but not the KTMA one.

I read an article/interview with Susan Hart where it did come up that she would like to put those films she owns on DVD. The article is here… https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2013/oct/30/susan-harts-little-corner-halloween/
The article is from early last year.
Hopefully Shout! can convince her to go with them – I’m sure they’ll find out what would make her happy and they’ll treat her properties respectfully. Maybe it’s just a matter of time?

Daniel Griffith; if you’re listening, PLEASE a short on Horror of Party Beach. You’re still my hero for the one you did on Thing that Couldn’t Die. If you do Horror, you’ll be a GOD!!!

If I were a Shout Factory higher-up and I released a KTMA box set, I’d call it Volume 0. A second would be Volume -1.

Yeah, the red version Cambot alone would be great, MZ.
While an all inclusive set of every iteration of Cambot would be the bees knees.
Meanwhile, the only figure I own is Gypsy. She rules the kingdom beneath my desktop PC monitor and is always in a chipper mood.
This latest MST3K volume is bad-ass-ville.
If I were 35 years younger, I would say this volume is “sick, man.”
Bad-ass-ville it is.

I think in every case it’s either a matter of time or money. I’m convinced we’ll eventually have every episode released. I think what we’ll never have is every episode available at once. Deals for previously released episodes are always expiring even while they’re successfully making deals to release other episodes for the first time. 176 movies are a lot to have licenses for perpetually. So Shout! will always be in a position of trying to keep old episodes available. But, eventually, reference quality transfers will exist for every episode, and that’s the real victory.

I don’t see why Shout! wouldn’t sell full seasons from Season 11 on? After all this is the first time that home video rights were negotiated up front at the same time as “TV” rights were negotiated. You have to remember that in the days when MST was new the bulky VHS format was still king as such full seasons of anything were impractical and rare. The result, nobody bothered worrying about rights for full season home video releases and that is why Shout! has to negotiate them after the fact. But going forward those rights will exist so why not sell the full season right away?

I agree that that’s how it should be, but I think it might depend on how much a full season would cost at retail. Since Joel kept talking about the difficulty of getting all the rights to the new movies it sounds like there won’t be many PD titles in the new season. So if they cost the same to license as the movies from the classic episodes wouldn’t DVDs cost about the same per episode as they do now? So at $10-$15 per episode we’re looking a probably $150+ for the full first season. That’s a lot of money to spend at once for the casual fan (it’s a lot more than for the full series box set for some other shows), and since many of the people who wouldn’t think twice about buying a full season at that price would already have it from the Kickstarter it might not sell well.
I suspect that they’ll release the season all at once, but broken down into more manageable volumes. Maybe not exactly the same way as they do now, but I’m sure they’ll have a target retail price they’ll shoot for that would cause less sticker shock. I do think they’ll keep the classic episode releases separate from the new season(s) releases.

I wish we could have all the sets, but pressed on extra heavy virgin vinyl.
Ooops! Hipster faux pau.

I started watching in ’94 and by then the bug and credits voiceovers were gone but I have to say I have I actually miss the “This has been a presentation from Comedy Central” bit at the end of the episodes, with the shot of the CC logo over, I think, a tire?
Ah – tires!
You know, a tire is what a young boy named Fran Tarkenton used to practice throwing a football through as he dreamed of playing quarterback for his hometown Minnesota Vikings.
Which is odd because his home town was Richmond Virginia, and the Minnesota Vikings did not come into existence until he was 20 years old.
Yep.

Joel did imply, briefly and vaguely, in a couple of the early Kickstarter updates, that they were looking into releasing the KTMA episodes, but he never stated anything outright, and as far as I know hasn’t mentioned it again since November. Still, since they’re running out of episodes to release, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear some news within the next year — though obviously season 11 is the priority right now.

A tad off topic here …
I know the last Shout release is still very recent, but I’ve observed that the price on it hasn’t come down as it typically does for these sets. Usually within a week of release, the Amazon price drops to approx $30-$35, along with a few other trusted entities who sell through both them and ebay.
This round, however, the price is still hanging tough in the high forties/low fifties at each and every outlet.

You know what might be nice? If I could purchase Volume 36. It’s STILL not available at Barnes and Noble or Best Buy, not even for Special Orders.

What a great set! Finally all 4 of these eps are released. Way overdue! I haven’t seen Horror of Party Beach since 1998 on Sci Fi!

Your right, the price is still very high on Amazon. But you can probably get it cheaper even at a local best buy. Lucky me, I have a $10 coupon. The rights cost was probably really high for the last set. Im guessing thats why the price won’t go down.

And its not even sold on Deep discount either. Amazon is selling it for $65 I think.

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one who’d noticed the pricing scale. It almost has the appearance of a “low stock” item, whereby the price gets cranked up ’cause the sellers realize the supply is limited. However, that simply cannot be the case with a brand new release.
Last night I noticed a few ebayers selling it for around forty, so I’ll likely end up going that route. I’ve already got decent digital transfers of these episodes, but I always score the official releases.

Did some checking and apparently there is nowhere in the continental United States where Volume 36 can be purchased. One can get it through Shout! Factory but only if one has a credit card.
So much for MST3K, then. Bye, guys.

E2K: “This trampoline accident could have been avoided. Never use a trampoline with unstable TNT in your pocket.”
HOPB: “President orders monsters back to work.”
IOTNM: “Space Chief is off having some Sapporos with Jet Jaguar and Prince of Space.”
