Can’t wait! I bought the 2 Star-Man discs from Something Weird many, many years ago and boy, are they strange.
Episodes of a Japanese TV kid’s show chopped up into incomprehensible movies that all start with the same ‘intro of our hero’ scene (that’s actually probably the best scene in the movie for sheer weirdness). After that, it’s more cut up than a chopped salad. So much so that it doesn’t make much sense.
… sounds perfect for Our Guys, doesn’t it?

Shut up and take my money, RiffTrax.

Laid down flipping great wadges of cash on their anniversary sale. I even got a few orders in before they deactivated the discount codes for the reunion show.
It was a steal of a deal!
20% off with the RIFFTEN code
10% off with the MADS code
5% off with the BOTS code
meant that a 9.99 VOD was 6.83
On top of that, you got a $10 gift card with each $50 dollar purchase, essentially another 20% off. I spent over $400 at their site in the last few days. Don’t tell my wife.

Huh. Throwing dollar bills at my screen doesn’t seem to work. You kids and your damn fancy internets.

must still use a 56k modem.

Man, I still remember our 14.4 dial-up modem that went, “Eeeeeeeee Beep beep boop bop” every time you wanted to use it. (Note to self: Get that sound as a ringtone.)

I haven’t seen this one, but I saw “Evil Brain from Outer Space”, another “movie” culled from the same series, a while back. RT just has to that one.

I still remember starting out with a 2400 baud modem, and gradually getting faster speeds as they released newer modems — until it got to about 56k, and then suddenly if you wanted anything faster you had to pay huge monthly fees for “broadband” — which wasn’t even available in most areas.

It’s only a matter of time before they do Evil Brain from Outer Space. This whole series of films is bonkers, but that one, hoo-boy, it’s off the charts.

tell kids about that and they will never believe you.

Tell kids that the first modems involved actually putting the handset of your landline wired telephone into a device, and you’ll blow their minds. I think those were the 300 bps modems.
To get back on track, I plan on sitting back tonight with hubby and my shiny new disc of Attack from Space for some good laughs.

When I was in school, we had 300 / 110 Baud acoustically-coupled modems. They were WAY more modern than the 55 Baud ones.
Sheesh! Kids these days!

Having watched it, the final act is like Rifftrax’s own version of “Deep Hurting.” That fight scene goes on for twenty minutes … it’s an action-packed version of rock climbing or the sandstorm.
