RiffTrax is continuing to release “three riffer” commentary tracks for movies that were previously released by Legend Films with solo commentaries by Mike. This one is “Missile to the Moon.” As with the others, if you previously bought the Legend DVD, all you need is to download the commentary and you’re all set.
If you didn’t buy the DVD, you can also download it as a video-on-demand file that includes the movie and the riffing.

We’ve been told that all these riffs have been rewritten to varying degrees from the initial solo riff. The early solo riffs (such as last week’s “Night of the Living Dead,” were not so much riffs as more typical DVD commentaries with a little riffing thrown in. Those have been extensively re-written, obviously. This one, however, was a real riff, with Mike joined by comic actor Fred Willard. Though I’m sure there’s been a major upgrade, it seems likely that a larger portion of the old material will remain.
Coming next: “Carnival of Souls” on March 3 and “Swing Parade” on March 10.
I don’t know about this one – I’ve bought all the other re-riffs for the reason stated: the originals weren’t riffs in the proper sense.
I have the Mike/Fred Willard version of this, and it’s great. Besides, Willard is a god.
I’m not inclined to pick this one up right now.
I agree — the Fred Willard version is pretty funny, and I can’t imagine that the extra material will be worth it. This will be the first of the “re-riffs” that I skip.
Those rock monsters would give the carpet monster from “The Creeping Terror” a run for its money in the “Lamest Monster Ever” category.
It’s going to be hard to beat the Fred Willard version, but I’m going to pick this up and see how the boys do.
Man, do these guys sleep and eat or just riff all day?
The Fred Willard version was pretty good. The description makes it sound like it’s the same jokes. Kinda weird to redo it.
Charles, I wondered the same thing myself. My new theory is that they employ thousands and thousands of underage Riffing Elves (of the Keebler variety, not the Tolkien type) and force them to work in riffing sweat shops for 18 hours a day at shockingly low wages. We should call Amnesty International. Then again, I have a fever of 102 at the moment, so I could be making that up. Who knows.
Will the newly riffed versions then be re-released on dvd? Maybe after that they can re-re-riff them and eventually you’ll have a dvd that’s sort of like an electronic version of a set of nesting dolls.
I wonder why they decided to re-riff a previous guest riff? Are they going to re-do Willy Wonka or Jurassic Park next?
How about,if possible,if they re-released the dvd with the 2 different commentaries?? That way you can have both versions.Just asking.
damn—having a real bad day at the office and couldnt get the sample to play!!
Maybe Mike FORGOT he already riffed this movie. It could be a side-effect of his all-bacon diet!
Did you guys noticed they announced JAWS as the next Rifftrax release? Out on Tuesday.
This re-riffing isn’t all that different from the original. I recognized a surprising amount of the same lines from the Willard/Nelson version.
This one isn’t better than the willard one, stick with that one.
