HOLLYWOOD—Actor James Victor died in his apartment here of heart disease June 20. He was 76. He may be best remembered for portraying the buffoonish Sgt. Jaime Mendoza on the 1990s Family Channel action-adventure series “Zorro.”
MSTies will remember his performance as Joey the pusher in the movie in episode 1002- GIRL IN GOLD BOOTS.
The Hollywood Reporter has the story.
Thanks to Timmy for the heads up.
Was he the guy with the greasy moustache?
He played the drug dealer that Critter met. I started watching Zorro again last year and checked out the cast on IMDB. I couldn’t believe that James Victor played that guy.
Joey was the pusher that Marty and Buzz delivered the stash hidden under the hood in the engine and then later under the fender of the front tire. Although in that second scene with “Buzzy” he was definitely greasy. RIP.
That’s too bad, he was one my favorite characters from that movie, he seemed to be having a good time playing the role. RIP.
Hope he took Buzz’s advise and relaxed and lived a little. :)

Well, I certainly knew this actor more from the ‘Zorro’ role, which I’m sure would make great Rifftrax fodder today. Fond memories of being a kid and watching goofy, syndicated Zorro push this guy around. Didn’t know he was part of the MST collective, I’ll have to watch #1002 again!
Also – he was a TV Jaime before being TV Jayme was cool.
