Satellite of Legos

Over at the LEGO Web site, an idea has been submitted for a Mystery Science Theater 3000 set. If the idea gets 10,000 supporters, LEGO will consider turning it into an official release. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

What, no Gypsy?! It looks like Crow drank some of Tom’s growth juice, but I digress. That really is a cool idea!

I just figured out that what looked like Cambot on the left is actually Gypsy. Don’t tell Richard Basehart.

As long as its the Batman from the Forties serials, I don’t mind.

On the other hand…LEGO Pumaman, anyone?

Yep, already supported, shared on both Rifftrax & MST3K Kickstarter pages & shared on FB. Frank already shared it on his FB page even.

I love the fact he included every major character in the line-up. Considering it’s only been up for 5 days & is almost 10% of the way to the 10,000 mark, it has a solid chance of at least making it to the review stage.

Hey, either Clooney or Kilmer’s Bat-movie is shred-worthy enough to be on the show, so… :silly:

noo, it has to also include the hexfield-viewscreen and “HUGHH BEAUMONNT!”

and a full-size (near “star destroyer” sized lego masterwork kit) “SOL” fold-out complete (a good start already, with the mini-version depicted there i’ve seen some small little SOL legos done over the years). slightly dangerous matchstick theater-doorway torches optional! ;0) … it needs to upsize a bit anyways to make up for crow and other bits that are too mini to make the grade… i’ve seen some pics before of nice little SOL legos, but want to see a full-on, full-sized version that has everyone about up to the right size. :)

SOL should be done like if lego did a “2001-discovery” big-sized spaceship, end to end (hey, -isn’t- there a lego 2001 set? there should be! along with a “the shining: the lego set” lol!) maybe each, oddly, a little less dangerous than any flaming match-sized mini-torches… only a dinky-small plastic axe to worry about! ;) (there needs to be the “below-deck”, where the “cheese-compressor” lines are and where crow tries to pick-axe them all out from the SOL in the movie… etc, etc…)

and, as an extra super add-on power-pack, the “SUPER-FREAKOUT” – all the extra characters that ever appeared behind or in front of the hexfield-viewscreen! super-bonus points, needs the “BOSSSS!” death-mobile from “teenagers from outer space” bit!

featuring the tentacle-tether back to earth and “deep 13″… might be the first lego set to properly rely upon a “quantum-phase” anti-gravitational state to accurately depict it. ;0 it’d be a bit top-heavy.

p.s. can anyone find the SOL in this chart? or does it appear in any similar scifi image charts around? seen some of these kinds of kewl starship charts around before, and it’d be fun to find the SOL on one of them…

  15. All of the bots are in that picture. Gypsy is on the left, Tom to her right, then Joel and Mike, then Crow and Cambot is on a clear stick in front of the desk. The set comes complete with the SOL hallway, the theater with silhouettes, every bot including Cambot, both Joel & Mike, both sets of mads with Dr. F, Dr. Erhardt & TVs Frank with a section of Deep 13 plus Pearl, Bobo & Brain Guy with a section of Castle Forrester. It even has the spaghetti ball logo with it. If you go to the Lego Idea link it has pictures of all of it. It’s way kewl! Thanx for posting this MST3KInfo.com! Much appreciated!

It does seem cool, but the appeal might be considered a bit too low for Lego to take up too much interest. I’ll be honest, I’d be more into the idea of MST3K model kits. The SOL, Deep 13, etc. The sets had so many little knick knacks in them that they might be fun to put together as a model kit.

I agree on two fronts: 1) that this does not seem to be a regular Lego fan type of set, and 2) despite a $6.3M Kickstarter with 47,000+ backers, it would need support to that level in order to be profitable to the Lego execs. That doesn’t take away from the design of the characters or the set itself. But then again the Lego website has a Research Geologist set getting over 4,000 votes of support, so anything is possible I guess. :)

More like $40-$60, if the idea does get approved by the higher-ups at LEGO (of course, that’s after it gets 10,000 supporters).

I suppose, it would depend on how long that SOL corridor would be. I know that custom Ghostbusters Ecto-1 was $50.

  28. The Lord Humongous says:

Lego has a line called Creator which is a series of one off sets from various geek franchises, such as one Back to the Future set, one Doctor Who set, one Big Bang Theory set (of all things), and two Ghostbusters sets. If this MST3K set gets made, it will be a one off set of the SOL in some form, it likely won’t be a line with sets of Deep 13, Gizmotics, Pearl’s rocket van, or Castle Forisster, etc. Also count on this MST3K set to cost $60 or more, as the Creator line is more highly marked up than even their Star Wars line.
