In San Francisco this weekend, they will riff on Blood of the Vampires on Friday. J. Elvis calls it “one of our very favorite riffing films, soon to be our next release.”
On Saturday the movie will be 1974’s “The Dynamite Brothers” which J. Elvis says describes as a look into “the seedy and hilarious world of ‘Kung-sploitation.’ ” Yow.
Note: This will also be the line-up next week in Boston.

Interesting, because Blood of the Vampires is one of the tamer “Blood Island” flicks. The plot is kind of a Tennessee Williams with Phillipino vampires instead of neurotic Southerners. With any luck they’ll do Mad Docter of Blood Island, Beast of Blood and Horror of the Blood Monsters, now. And then there’s all the other Al Adamson flicks. I can’t believe MST3K never did Dracula vs. Frankenstein.

I can’t wait to see what they’ll be doing for the one I’m going to.
And I was reading through the comments above, the song I was listening to said “Tennessee Williams” at almost the exact moment I read it in comment 2.

I read this, and just as I was going, “Ooh! Information about their next release! ‘Blood of the Vampires’, sounds good, can’t wait for the trailers…”
I saw the mention of ‘Dynamite Brothers’. Oh, do I want to see this. I’d see this unriffed–watching it with amusing commentary would be like pure joy. Can’t wait for it to come out on DVD.

Great! Another Al Adamson film – you just know CT will rip it a new one! I never saw these two before so it be all fresh and new for me.

Oops! Dynamite Brothers, on the other hand, was directed by Al Adamson. My bad…

Saw Blood Of The Vampires in Minneapolis in Oct. Traveled quite far for it and it was worth it. It’s terrific. The actors in the film are actually name actors in the Philippines, but let’s say this was probably not their best flick.
Again, no shows in the Washington, D.C. area in spite of all the wonderful theaters we have around here that are the right size, acoustics, atmosphere, etc. Come on CT, please give us a show at the Warner Theater or Strathmore Hall!

This part from the SF Chronicle article makes me giddy:
“Hodgson, 48, has just moved from Los Angeles to the Philadelphia area with his wife and two children. He no longer feels the pressure of his hectic Hollywood schedule, instead preferring to focus on “Cinematic Titanic.”
Living in Jersey, this makes me think that they have to do a show in Philly sooner rather than later. And that’s the one I will go to, for any price.

I hear ya’ about ‘Dracula vs. Frankenstein’. Of all the films I’ve tried riffing with friends, we were so successful with DVF that we regretted the Brains never getting their hands on it.
If CT does it, one gag they’d better do during the opening credits:
As Drac’s flamethrower ring begins to spark, Frank or Josh declares, “Ooh, I know this one! (Leans out to connect fist to Drac’s, Wondertwins style) Dracula Powers, Activate! Shape of: a better movie!…aww, no such luck…”
Never saw “Mad Doctor of Blood Island”, but the trailer was easily the funniest thing on my “Raiders of the Living Dead” DVD, so I’m sure it’d make just as good an ep.

Note that the address for the venue given in the Mercury News writeup is wrong. 405 Post Street is the Post Street Theater. CT is at Marines Memorial, which is 609 Sutter.

Can’t wait for ‘Blood of the Vampires’ to be released.
They ‘tested’ it on us in Chicago the day I went, and I was hoarse by the end from laughing. It was my first introduction to CT, and I vowed to the crew that I would purchase it as soon as it was released.

Errgh. No chance that I can get to see any of these shows. I would love to see them do some riffing on James Hong (one of my favorite character actors) when they do “Dynamite Brothers.”
