It’s an amazing thing. Have a look at redlettermedia dot com to get an idea how great a rifftrax subject this should be.
Also, what does “pointless” mean in the context of MST3K/CT/RT/MST3K.02??? If it’s riffed well it should be sidesplittingly funny to watch. What point is there supposed to be beyond that?
Did you guys even see this yet? Why the knee-jerk reactions? Those help no one here. You would think MSTies would be a bit more tolerant and enlightened. FTR I am NOT a Rifftrax fan but I wouldn’t dump on something I hadn’t seen yet.
I haven’t seen this movie but I want to so this looks like a good way to see it.

The Joe Bob Briggs commentary on the dvd of this is really funny,too.Also,this is on blu ray and they made a sequel,which stars Tommy Wiseau..Found out about this movie a few years ago and love every minute of it..
Some Rifftrax releases are limp and lifeless, like the guys are reciting riffs in a studio. But the Samurai Cop rifftrax is hilarious! All MSTies should check it out. “Remember: It’s not racist if it’s incoherent.”
May I ask a question, and I don’t mean to cause offense. I can understand your not liking Rifftrax, but it seems from your comment that it goes beyond that to actually hoping they’ll fail and stop production. Is this a fair assessment, or am I mistaken? If the latter, feel free to correct me.
There are other Joe Bob DVD commentaries out there? I’d only seen his commentary on “Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter”–which actually was a Trailers From Hell-style commentary from a cult expert, not a MST-wannabe riffing–but I only knew two or three others out there, and Netflix disk-rental back then wasn’t about to stock “The Double-D Avenger”. Am I missing other good titles?

Well you want to hear something really funny? well how about the fact that you have inane double standards like how in an earlier topic you call Mike and Rifftrax money hungry for using kickstarter but it’s ok if Joel uses it? Yeah sorry but someone with that mentality is not the best judgmental source on Rifftrax…or anything else.

For those who are big fans of Samurai Cop is should be noted that they edited out more mature content then usual. Depending who you are that might be a good thing or a bad thing.
I was very glad they cut the rape scene. Nothing kills the mood of a cheesy movie as effectively or as often as a rape scene.
But I was counting on the guys being horrified by Robert Z’Dar in sexy bikini briefs.
I too am a fan of the Joe Bob Briggs commentaries. He doesn’t deny the horrible aspects of the movies, is quite knowledgeable about them, and is rather funny as well. He’s done several Ray Dennis Steckler movies such as Blood Shack, The Hollywood Strangler Meets the Skid Row Slasher, and of course Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Etc… which is where I first heard Briggs do commentary. He also did Samurai Cop, Blood Sisters, Warlock Moon, Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter, I Spit On Your Grave (1978), and The Double-D Avenger.
Two of his books, Profoundly Disturbing and Profoundly Erotic, both delve into about a baker’s dozen of films each and are very thorough as well. They are closer to an actual film study as opposed to some his earlier film books that are written more with the earlier cornpone-ish Joe Bob persona. Granted those are fun too, but you can definitely tell the writing shift.
If you’re a fan of those types of genres, give Joe Bob a whirl.

Quite the unfortunate reverse, in fact: He’s still living in the days when Mike was that nice clean-cut boy down the block who did such funny imitations of Torgo, and he thinks the SFC episodes are hilarious because he refuses to watch his own.
Oh, and as for the Kickstarter, he thinks he’s doing the other guys a favor.

Nope, I’m pushing 50 and don’t have time in my life for trolls. If half the time I come to a site and half the time someone is just posting to be an ass, I stop coming to the site. Since I have been a regular for over a decade that should mean something.
