RIP Adrienne Corri

corri Doctorwhonews.net reports the passing British actress Adrienne Corri on March 13. She had an extensive career spanning more than 40 years, but is perhaps best remembered as the hapless Mrs. Alexander in “A Clockwork Orange.”
Like many actors have been known to do, she gave differing birth years, but the IMDB says she was 85.
MSTies will recall that she played Liz Murphy in the movie in episode 111- MOON ZERO TWO.

There’s also an obituary at the London Times website but you have to be a subscriber to read it.

If we see another substantial obit, we will post it here.

Thanks to Timmy for the heads up.

Life goes on. We’re losing a lot of entertainers these days- many of old age, but, too many are taken away early. That said, I will watch Moon Zero Two and Clockwork Orange (a film I sparkled a fat one and used fake ID to see alone at my local mall multiplex so many years ago.) RIP

Nice she was in Buccaneers, Ivanhoe and William tell tv series. I have all of those. If only she was in the Robin Hood tv series too.

    A dark reboot? Nah.

I understand that the scene where Alex the Droog sings “Singin’ in the Rain” while raping Mrs. Alexander is more famous than the scene where Gene Kelly belts it out.

I saw Moon Zero Two on its own without the MST3K version. It actually wasn’t a bad movie.

    Here’s to you, Adrienne!

    RIP

We lost some good actors in the last few weeks. Adrienne Corri was in a much better Hammer movie than “Moon Zero Two” called “Vampire Circus”. A good vampire movie from the early 70’s.

Very ignorant people like to carry on as if “political correctness run amuck” has somehow set our culture back to the 1950s–ironically the same period as some of those same whiners describe as the “good ol’ days”–but it hasn’t. Studios make movies far more controversial in nature than A Clockwork Orange all the time that come and go without a peep, while the world focuses on the tantrums thrown by man-infants over the new Ghostbusters movie or racists shrieking about Idris Elba.

People more ignorant than THAT, set the 1950s as a benchmark of puritan idealism and troll fan forums, believing they exhibit a superior intellect that will illuminate the lost.

    Poor self-deceived bastards.

There were rumors Heath Ledger was considering starring in a remake of Clockwork at the time of his death. Given the (exaggerated*) reports of his method commitment that might have killed him too. Personally I’d only go for one if it made Alex a teen ala the novel and kept the epilogue (though I understand why Kubrick decided to leave it out even after he read it – the edition he originally read apparently cut it).

    * He was committed enough to shock Michael Caine into forgetting his line when he makes his entrance at the party in Dark Knight, but Caine also said he dropped out of character between takes and was a normal, likable guy, unlike Jared Leto (who I still think will deliver a good performance, he’s just apparently way too method from what I’ve heard)

I neglected to say how beautiful I found Adrienne Corri to be and that I always enjoy her speaking parts in Moon Zero Two. and I am sorry to see her go.

Sounds like an anti-tantrum tantrum to me
