I wish I had $20,000-30,000.
Ditto.
Well, I’d use it to start up my own video store before buying any movie props.
Hope we get a link to a complete list soon.
Why anyone would pay that much money for props or memorabilia is beyond me.
When the level of satisfaction of owning from piece of movie history outweighs the degree to which you’ll miss the money, then I say “Why not?”.
Let’s try that again:
When the level of satisfaction gained from owning piece of movie history outweighs the degree to which you’ll miss the money, then I say “Why not?”
This is so sad to me. A few years ago when Forry started selling off pieces to pay his medical bills, I commented to my husband that the stuff should all be put in a museum after Forry passes on.
I was hoping someone would step up to the plate and offer to do that.
No one seems to care. Even the industry people with money.
If I had the money, I would buy the entire estate and make a museum to Forry. Unfortunately, I don’t think people today know how important he was to the genre.
It would be nice if Speilberg or Lucas or one of the many others that Forry influenced purchased the whole collection and kept it together in a museum setting for all the world to enjoy rather than letting it all scatter to private collectors, never to be seen again.
I agree that Forry’s estate and its contents should be made a historic landmark/museum. Wonder if there’s a way to get the local government involved and maybe have the place and its contents designated as some sort of landmark. Hell, it’s the Ackermuseum after all. He coined the phrase “Sci-Fi!”
I find it truly depressing that this amazing collection is being scattered to the winds. The passing of Uncle Forry was the end of an era.
I find it ironic that such a thing as Dracula’s ring is worth 20 to 30 thousand now, primarily because of Forry making collecting movie memorabilia popular.
I recall seeing a documentary on his collection as it existed in the early 1990s. Words do not fit describing it. Just leave it at “Whoa.”

Any film buff of any genre would love to such an iconic ring….bela lugosi is for many the definative movie vampire. We see him in MST3K as actor on the extreme low end of his career but he made his mark as Dracula that many actors would love to hit a peak like that. The whole collection must be jaw dropping!
That ring goes with EVERYTHING I own. Even the black leather.
Anyone who still listens to Bauhaus wants that ring i am sure, lol.
