I hope they put the Beanstalk version out on DVD soon.

I received the digital download of “Santa/Ice Cream Bunny” as part of my Kickstarter rewards and it’s just as dark, scary, and horrifying as promised. It does leave an unanswered question. Now that Santa is grounded and can only get around in a slow moving fire truck driven by a maniacal poorly-paid dude wearing an incredibly hot bunny outfit, will any child get gifts for Christmas?

BTW, among the many, many things wrong with “Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny”, I think the biggest issue is this: When Santa is explaining to the kids that his sleigh is stuck and his reindeer left, one kids asks, quite logically, why Santa can’t just take a plane flight home. Santa’s excuse is that his sleigh would be left behind.
Yet at the end he leaves his sleigh behind to ride off with the ICB… and poof! His sleigh magically returns to the North Pole.

While of course anything from the Brains is almost invariably cool, I myself personally would prefer for them to stop re-using films (from MST3K or any other project) and riff new ones in each and every release. It’s not like there’s a shortage of public domain films. Okay, a lot of them are going to be black-and-white, but so what? Oh well.
