I want to note that this is not an exhaustive list and I don’t claim it to be. One or two people (mostly film crew folks) were left out because no photo was available that I could find.
Plus, I always hear months later into the new year of people who quietly passed on and whose family didn’t alert the media. So, I apologize, in advance, for anybody who is not included and should have been.
I think this is an improvement over last year’s. I hope I will slowly get better at this.
One more note, about Cubby: If you were a participant in the AOL chat room in the 90s, or the AOL message boards of the same period, you knew Cubby. As a commenter here, he has been unfailingly positive and thoughtful. One notable accomplishment: some disapproved, in the episode guide entries, of my use of the phrase “dated reference.” He suggested an alternative: “then-current reference.” Everybody liked it and it stuck. That was fairly typical of Jim, a sensible peacemaker. If you read through the comments you’ll find observations of his that are astute or funny and usually both at the same time. He was also the heart and soul of my now-disbanded private riffing group and made an incalculable contribution there as well.
Whenever we met, he would put on a face of mock-concern and say, in his best soap opera doctor voice, “Chris…how are you REALLY?”
I miss him very much.
good job Sampo.
RIP to everyone.

Oh, wow, I missed it when Anthony Cardoza died. He pretty much financed and propped up Coleman Francis’s filmmaking. RIP indeed.

Very tasteful and respectful; very much like the annual “TCM Remembers” spots. Well done, and my condolences for the loss of your friend, Sampo.

Also lost this year: Phil Austin, the voice of Nick
Danger from the influential, and oft quoted by MST3K, Firesign Theatre.

Thank you for that… I had missed the passing of several of those folks. It was a quite lovely tribute.

Thanks, Sampo. I know for me this helps put things in perspective: our present time on this earth is short.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten;
and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years,
yet is their strength labour and sorrow;
for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
– Psalm 90:10
Think about it, won’t you? Thank you.

Nicely done, Chris. Literally brought a tear to my eye. Rest in peace to each. They all touched our MST community in some way and brought a little joy to our lives.

that always happens with these types of things. TCM has to update there Hollywood people we lost once or twice after it comes out in mid December. i think they should do it after the first of the year.

Yeah, invariably somebody goes during the holidays. Ah, well… Rest easy, Lemmy.

Inadvertently left out of the litany of losses is Patricia Pearcy who starred as Geri in Squirm. Per IMDB, she died January 2, 2015.

@#21: The information about Patricia Pearcy may be incorrect. Click my name for an IMDb discussion thread on the topic.

Good job. Definitely classier and more respectful than the always cringeworthy, “applause level based on popularity” RIP presentation at the Academy Awards.

Very nice. All made MST possible..whether they knew it or not. Thanks.

@#22: Thanks for the correction. I’m glad to know Ms. Pearcy is actually (or at least is most likely) still alive.

Okay so we can’t trust the birthday the IMDB has for her either?

Thanks to you, these people will not pass into obscurity. They will be remembered. Very respectful tribute.

Wayne Rogers, AKA Trapper John just passed away today. I know some Trapper John references were made in MST3K, though a lot of the time they were talking of the later show with Pernell Roberts.
