Here’s the info! As usual, Joel is keeping mum about which eps will be shown.
Shout! Factory TV to Host 2015 Mystery Science
Theater 3000 Turkey Day MarathonAnnual Streaming Marathon Invites Fans to Spend
Thanksgiving with MST3K Creator and Host Joel HodgsonBreak out the three-layer dip and pureed giblets, it’s time to celebrate Turkey Day Mystery Science Theater 3000 style! This year, give thanks for turkeys of the cinematic variety as Shout! Factory continues its revival of the beloved holiday tradition with a newly curated Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day streaming marathon, hosted by show creator Joel Hodgson.
Starting at 9 am PT/12 pm ET on Thursday, November 26th, visit www.BringBackMST3K.com to join the Turkey Day festivities. Featuring six classic episodes hand-picked by Hodgson himself, this year’s Turkey Day Marathon will also celebrate the halfway point of MST3K’s month-long Kickstarter campaign. As part of the celebration, Hodgson will be online interacting with fans throughout the marathon, so join the conversation with fellow MSTies by using #BringBackMST3K to share your favorite riffs, jokes and MST3K memories. This year’s Turkey Day will also mark the return of MST3K’s tradition of reading fan mail on air, so fans who write a letter, draw a picture or compose a song about why they are thankful for MST3K have a chance to have their contribution shared on air during the marathon. Submissions should be sent to infoclub@mst3k.com before Thursday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Fans who are feeling thankful for bad movies and wisecracking bots can share the love – and get incredible rewards – by contributing to the Kickstarter campaign at www.BringBackMST3K.com.
Since launching on November 10, 2015, the MST3K Kickstarter campaign has rallied over 21,000 fans, raising more than $2.3 million to help bring the beloved cult series back to life for a new generation of fans. Hodgson and the MSTies have until December 11th, 2015 to raise the $3.2 million needed to produce a full season of 12 episodes.
For updates on Turkey Day, the future of MST3K, and ways to help bring the series back to life, follow @MST3K, @JoelGHodgson and @ShoutFactory on Twitter, “Like” https://www.facebook.com/MST3K on Facebook, and follow @MST3K on Instagram.
Typo! That should be $5.5 Million for the full 12 episodes.

I believe the $3.2 million is referring to how much more needs to be raised (in addition to the $2.3 million already raised) to reach the goal. Not the final goal amount itself.

While I think it’s unlikely they will make the full season goal, and while I am still skeptical they can ever recreate even part of the magic that made MST3K what it was, events of recent days have convinced me to donate to this effort.
Now, more than ever, the world needs MST3K. I am extremely thankful Joel is making the effort to do this.

Yes. It should probably say “the remaining $3.2 million.”

Glad tidings!

The only way this will succeed is if we don’t cast doubt on OUR ability, as FANS, to make this happen. Heck, if fanboys and fangirls can get a Veronica Mars movie made on Kickstarter, WE CAN DO THIS TOO!!!
Also, where do I submit a paternity suit for Tom Servo?

Is the turkey day marathon gonna be on youtube live like last year

I don’t expect them to recapture the old magic, I expect a brand new kind of magic. After all, each consecutive lineup has had magic of their own, even if we can’t all agree on what episodes we like the most.
And I was hoping the marathon would stream on youtube again, but I suppose Pluto.TV is a good option.

They’ve used YouTube for the previous Turkey Day streams, but there’s no mention of it on the list of streaming sites. I hope they’re still using it, as Yahoo’s streaming app is rather lousy…

I think if anyone has any doubts regarding the reboot, just watch the above link, and think, “At least it won’t be like this.”

I hope we finally get “Riding With Death” this year.

I don’t think they are using Youtube this year.

I suspect we won’t see any episodes that aren’t already available on one of the various streaming/digital distribution services. Since the episodes on those services are the ones that Shout! has the rights to stream. Hopefully “Riding With Death” will be in one of the next couple of sets so it’s available for next year’s marathon!

I have to admit they’ve already covered several “greatest hits” so i can’t begin to imagine what’s in store for this year.

I would love to see a Master Ninja episode be included. Has Manos been included yet? I can’t seem to remember seeing it on these.
If not, I’d vote for:
Joel eps: Manos, Master Ninja I and Gamera vs. Guiron
Mike eps: Santa Claus, Time Chasers, Hobgoblins

Must…show…Cave Dwellers on marathon.
And Hercules.
And Hercules Unchained
And for extra surprise guests a Film Crew reunion for Giant of Marathon.
And then before going to Jack Taylor’s for a Thanksgiving Party, I Accuse My Parents.

Sounds good to me. Jack Taylor’s got a great place!

It’s not on Youtube this year, it’s on Yahoo Screen. I know there are apps for Apple TV and Xbox 360. I’m not sure if the app Chromecasts. When Community debuted earlier this year, only that show was able to be Chromecast, but I would hope they would have roled that out for the entire app by now.

They got that fancy shout factory tv thing so hopefully I can stream through my roku on that

So the fact that it’s on Yahoo Screen give us an indication where SHOUT! might be favoring taking an MST3K reboot??

Not happy at all with the apparent move away from streaming on Youtube to Yahoo. I have been able to stream and enjoy the last few Shout Turkey Days using my Nintendo Wii U console’s excellent HTML5 browser + Youtube which works great (FYI, Wii U also works brilliantly for streaming your VOD library on Rifftrax) The only console I see supported is XBox One, no love for Nintendo and Playstation owners? How will the streaming work on XBox One? Does XBox One have a version of the Yahoo app? I don’t own an XBox One, I’ve tried watching Yahoo Screen on my Wii U and it doesn’t load videos at all. This needs to be cleared up and adjusted a bit because if they want to reach as many people as possible on Turkey Day for promoting the Kickstarter they really need to make sure it’s available on all video game consoles and not just limited to Yahoo. I’m not buying a Roku dongle just to watch the stream.

@20 – I was excited for the new season of Community earlier this year but there was no option to stream to my Chromecast on Yahoo’s app for IOS. I just downloaded the app again to see if there were any updates in the hopes they had added Chromecast streaming capabilities, but it still looks like it’s a no-go on all fronts. Makes sense, I guess, since Yahoo & Google are rival companies, but it’s a shame that Shout is limiting their audience for the marathon (& advertisement of the Kickstarter) if they are indeed making the stream a Yahoo Screen exclusive. Every streaming device has YouTube capabilities, but Yahoo Screen is still only available on a limited amount of devices. Being someone who owns both a Wii U & a Chromecast, I guess I’m just out of luck this year. Ah well…

OK, per my post above, I did some Googling and if the info I read is correct, Yahoo for some reason deliberately blocks the Wii U, the only console line that works with or that Yahoo has an agreement with is XBox 360 and XBox One and I’m not an XBox owner. I’m going to Tweet Joel and ask if he can look into this, again it feels disingenuous and inconvenient they’re locking the stream only to devices that Yahoo screen allow from their end for a stream which is supposed to be centered on reaching fans everywhere. Also, the last few streams have been region locked, cut our foreign fans a break and it International, man!

Also, I haven’t backed yet. I’m in the middle of moving which is compounding my usual November budget but aside from that (temporary) hindrance, if this is an indicator that they’re shopping to Yahoo Screen I’m not interested in backing for a streaming only option if that’s who they’re aiming for and I don’t think I can currently afford the $200 Blu Ray option. Whether it’s Turkey Day or the new episodes, they need to go with the friendliest and most device flexible site/service out there. Yahoo Screen is insultingly bad and using them for the Turkey Day stream sends the wrong message to people using non-XBox consoles, Chromecast and IPhones.

I’m like the only one that clicks on the link for the list of apps and gets kicked back to the home page. I tried it on more than one device too.

I hope they get a boost from this marathon. I really want them to reach that top goal. They seem to be implying that if they don’t reach it, there’s a decent chance this will be a short one-off series, and it won’t be enough for a video service (Amazon, Netflix, etc) to pick it up.

Remember that Joel (and Trace) were involved in a show on Yahoo, so maybe he has some contacts there?

@26 – The official MST3K Facebook account just confirmed that it WILL be streaming on YouTube in addition to Yahoo, etc. on the Turkey Day 2015 event page, so it looks like we’re good after all! Cheers!

That’s good. The lack of Playstation devices on the list was upsetting. They all have a youtube app, though, so that works for me.
