RIP Sergio Ciani (aka Alan Steel)

AlanSteel1 Ostia, Italy — Italian actor Sergio Ciana, sometimes billed as Alan Steel, died in his sleep at his home here Sept. 5, two days short of his 80th birthday. MSTies will recall that he played Hercules (really Maciste) in the movie in episode 410- HERCULES AGAINST THE MOON MEN and also had a small role in the movie in 408- HERCULES UNCHAINED. So far only Italian web sites are reporting it, but when an English obit is posted we’ll update with a link.

Thanks to Bobbie for the heads up.

Big Allen Steele, noooooooo. “I love being a guy”, “aren’t ya gonna wave to me?”, and “come back with my arrow”
    pizza pizza, you are missed.

He was in the movie that had my ALL time favorite unintentionally funny moment — as he rushes up to the “hero” who has been shot with an arrow in the chest only seconds earlier and is laying in the dirt good ole Herc, um Maciste says to him “I arrived just in time” and before the gang could even comment milk spurted out of my nose (their riff “That’s a matter of opinion” is almost superfluous).

He was actually one of the better Steve Reeves clones. RIP, big fellow.

RIP, Sergio Ciani. You were one of my favourite Hercs, ever (even though that’s not who you were playing); you brought a zest and vibrancy to the character (so take that, Mike! :))), and I will miss you.

Tasteless or not, the fitting end must be noted–
Would it be inappropriate to say he was finally so sleepy, he could hardly stay awake? :(

Imagine making contact with the strong man via a ouija board … and he just smashes your face down onto the NO corner of the board… again and again, no matter what your question is.

    R.I.P., buddy.

RIP. He lived a long life and had a prolific career, and in “Hercules Against The Moon Men,” he even got to do several love scenes with Her Royal Voluptuousness! Lucky bastard. I also noticed him in “Giant of Marathon,” riffed by The Film Crew, even though it was only a small part. I’ve looked around but still haven’t found any English obituaries for him. I wonder what he did after retiring from acting in 1979?

How about a weekend discussion on various Hercs and Hercish mst3000 movies,
including the Film Crew’s The Giant of Marathon—with Kevin’s(?) insightful
analysis of the Battle of Marathon.

Yes, I believe My Cheesesteak is a corruption of Maciste.

R.I.P. Alan Steel. If I ever had a physique like yours, I’d get a tough guy name like Duke Gridiron or Logan Grits.
