YES!!! I first “discovered” this movie by way of The Cinema Snob, and I immediately thought that it would make great Rifftrax material.

Of all the things The Snob has reviewed, this may be the worst.

This is (I think) the second movie that Rifftrax and The Cinema Snob have “shared”: Rifftrax covered “Curse of Bigfoot” before the Snob did his (very funny) review, and now Rifftrax has covered “To Catch a Yeti”. I think Rifftrax should do “Little Red Riding Hood and the Monsters” next: that was another of my favorite Snob reviews, and it would fit in very nicely with the other bizarre K. Gordon Murray movies and shorts that Rifftrax has used.
As for “To Catch a Yeti”: among its many flaws, it relies much too heavily on extremely unlikely coincidences. It’s even worse than “Last of the Wild Horses”, which is really saying something. Amy goes running off to New York, and her family “just happens” to find her in that enormous city within a few minutes of screen time. Meat Loaf is able to repeatedly hunt down Amy’s family because he “just happens” to keep bumping into people who “just happen” to be stupid enough to volunteer the exact information that he needs.
One especially fun moment is the painfully fake “exterior” shot of Amy’s family standing in front of their house: they’re supposed to be in sunlight, but they’re all casting shadows in two different directions. And, as I think the Snob pointed out also, exactly how tall is Meat Loaf supposed to be in this movie?! During the opening credits, as the “singer” is busy belching the theme song, Meat Loaf is shown to be about twice Blubber’s height, but later in the movie Blubber is standing up to Meat Loaf’s shoulders.
As J&TB might say: They Just Didn’t Care!

(A quick addendum to #3: I had forgotten that Meat Loaf’s convenient snitches in this movie include vastly overwritten, strategically planted newspaper articles! Jump to about 23:20 for the fakey exterior house shots.)
I just finished the Rifftrax version. I don’t think it’s the funniest riff they’ve made, but they do the whole movie and do a good job with it.

Snob also reviewed “Fun in Balloonland”, which RiffTrax did last year.

I just finished watching this VOD and besides getting a real kick out it, I’m so glad that I finally found out whatever happened to Nummy-Muffin-Coocol Butter.
Time wasn’t too kind to him.

I’m having Furby flash backs!

The cinema snob also reviewed Galaxy Invader(the Pod People credits movie) which rifftrax would later do. So you can add that to the list.

Thanks, #5 and #8! I stand corrected. I just remembered another one: “The Apple”.

Well, that makes sense; they’ve used up most of the Medved Golden Turkeys and Agony Booth favorites, who else will they look to to tell them about which bad films everyone else has heard of?
As for Meat Loaf being in the movie, I can only assume he must’ve been friends with the director, but that’s no way to pick your friends…

What the heck is a Cinema Snob?

Watched this last night, definitely a new favorite. Ridiculously incompetent movie which I can only guess was supposed to appeal to kids. I laughed so hard I don’t know if it was the riffing or the rock stupid movie (or both).

Brad “Cinema Snob” Jones is an internet review mostly known for reviewing horror and porn movies, though he’s done all sorts of other odd movies, too. “The Apple”, “Heartbeeps”, etc…
Oh! He’s also reviewed “Pod People” (I know that’s MST, not Rifftrax, but still). In fact, he’s a fan of the director, who also made the (in)famous slasher film “Pieces”.
/Some day I’m gonna get that filthy animal!

With this movie, RT has a new collection on its hands: Movies Starring One-Hit Wonders!
Cool As Ice
Radical Jack
To Catch a Yeti

Hey now, be fair. Vanilla Ice, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Meat Loaf are more like two-hit wonders. :-P

And if they ever get around to “Hudson Hawk”, you could add it to the list as well thanks to Bruce Willis–sorry, “Bruno” and his “singing” “career”.
Also, co-sign on the awesomeness of the Cinema Snob and all of Brad Jones’ projects.

One more film to add to the list of films covered by both Rifftrax and the Cinema Snob: Miami Connection (Snob did his review of the film a few weeks ago, while the Rifftrax version is going to be part of the Crappening).
Also, if you include crossover reviews by the Snob, you could also include Sharknado (which he did with the Nostalgia Critic) to the list.

I have a question about the creature used in the promotion poster. Is that thing really in the movie? There’s no way something that hideous is in the movie! It looks like one of the Hobgoblins mated with a Gremlin!! Also, why was this movie geared toward children? Did no one ever heard of the phrase “nightmare fuel”?????

While I am not a fan of his, I don’t think Meat Loaf is anywhere near in the class of Vanilla Ice or Billy Ray Cyrus
Bat Out of Hell was on the charts for something like 9 years after its release (1977), and Bat Out of Hell 2 was a huge success almost 20 years later in 1993. Not many artists can do that.
