In the next week or so, you’re going to see a lot of items in the press and on the web about the arrival of Vol. XXXII, which happens Tuesday. Most of them will just be re-writing the press release (and some will just be cutting-and-pasting it). But not Alex Biese at the Asbury Park Press, who caught up with Frank and got some reminiscences about his time at MST3K. Here’s his piece.
Also, Adam Frazier at Geeks of Doom
and Erich Asperschlager of DVD Verdict have reviews.
UPDATE: And as proof that MSTies are everywhere, the set even got a mention from Robert Kinsler of “Music News Nashville.”
I love that they used the shot “for the album cover” (San Francisco International).
Great stuff, Alex. And thank you, Frank, for pulling Manos out of the box. (Sort of like the last panel of Watchmen.
Did we ever get an Amazon link to pre-order this? I’d like to use one to support this website.
“In the press,” really? As much as I’d like that to be true, I really doubt “Cult Classic ’90s TV Series Releases 32nd DVD Boxset” will set the AP on fire.
Anyone else refreshing the site at the top & bottom of each hour, in eager anticipation of the announcement of XXXIII’s titles?…
Andrew: That’s why I’m here!
Me too!
I’m not here for the new titles release! I’m just here for the kicks, baby. The kicks!
I am! Hurry up with those titles already! So I can say “Oh that’s a great set”.
You’re one wiiiild rebel, #7.
Patience folks… soon, we hope.
Wow, I’m glad I checked out the comments on this post . . . it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one refreshing on the site every 10 minutes. As great as it is to finally acquire each new Shout! set, it’s almost as much fun to find out what’s going to be in the NEXT set . . .
No Space Travelers MST Hour clips on this one. Hopefully, the missing ones will be collected at some point
If they weren’t on this DVD, I doubt we’ll see them at all.
Came here for the new titles, but alas,nada,zilch,nothing…oh,well..It’ll happen..soon,soon..will keep coming back….
I’m surprised there is no news of the next set yet. Unless they’re still negotiating the next set, I’m not sure what they’re waiting for.
They could still be doing some crazy-go-nuts deal, but I’m not expecting anything out of the blue.
I imagine it’ll be sometime during the week at least. I don’t think this is the first time they didn’t announce the next set on the same day the latest one came out. Let’s just appreciate having XXXII before going nuts waiting for XXXIII. *smugly using roman numerals*
I predict the next set will have Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, Teenage Cavemen, and The Undead.
Of course, Criswell has a better prediction record than mine.
I’ve had my Vol. XXXII since February 24th, so the wait for this reveal has been intense, man! I’m trying… to be… patient… :hypnotized:
So Sampo, how does this work exactly? Do you not know the titles, and are waiting for word from Shout!, or do you know them already, and are waiting for permission from Shout to reveal them?
Sampo — I cracked the set late this afternoon, and the first thing I watched was “A Brief History of Satellite News,” which I enjoyed immensely. I was late getting into the show (’97), so it’s always nice to learn about the early days of the show (and of course I am perfectly envious).
Great job, Sampo (and Ballyhoo, and Shout!)! This site is one of my favourite things! :)
My favorite extra on the new set was Trace and Frank in the UK. That was fun.
I like the new menus, they are awesome!
Especially the San Fransisco International one.
Won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen it, but it’s pretty sweet. Nice surprise!
Watching Turner Classic Movies on 3/19/15, Ben Mankiewicz introduced the movie “Tormented” by Director Bert I. Gordon. He says, As with most of Bert I Gordon’s films, it was produced on a limited budget. It plays like it’s a spoof and it’s been given the full Mystery Science Theater treatment, but it’s fun. And if you put yourself in a Tom Servo frame of mind, you’re going to enjoy it.
Just watched the interview with Sampo and found it deeply awesome.
