Trust me, the riff on “70’S GOLD” is worth the price of admission alone. :-)
My only real question is, why tarantulas in the first place?…I know they are bigger and eye catching, but they are not the most deadly of spiders in the first place….Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.
Why so many spiders movies? Gahh! I hate looking at them. Snakes too. Jim Stafford also.
As an arachnophobe, I can’t watch this or the Shatner spider movie they did. Which wouldn’t be so bad, but somehow spiders also keep showing up in a huge percentage of the movies they’ve done over the past year or so!!
Here’s the odd part: Although this is titled Kiss of the Tarantula, and there are indeed tarantulas aplenty in the first half of the film, they sort of drop off the radar halfway through. This of course becomes a running gag in the film’s extremely long final scene. So those of you who aren’t keen on the spider movies (I sympathize) might still be okay watching this one. It’s a lot easier to sit through than Kingdom of the Spiders.
For me, the jokes related to the local campaign meetings were gold. As fans of riffing so often say, each person has their joke that feels as though it was written for them. As a guy who is deeply involved in our local political campaigns here in Suburbville, Texas (and yes, our meetings frequently go on forever, talking about parking and bond issues, sometimes closing bars at 2 a.m.) I found these jokes killers.
Also, Susan (repeat ad nauseam).
I always love these cheezy 70’s monster flicks. Not sure why but they are always my favorite. Will get them every time. Waiting for them to do 1976’s “Grizzly”.
i think rifftrax should do this film sometime:
