Pretty good interview but I thought it was an odd choice for the interviewer to specifically ask if there was a conflict between Kevin and CT. :???: Joel was polite, My tone would have been more like “Uh, he seemed happy at Comic Con. You DO realize he’s not working with us ‘cuz he’s already committed to Rifftrax, riiiigghhht? Are you TRYING to imagine a feud?” You’d think the usual generic “Ummm Do you guys have a problem with each other?” question #1 and 2 choices would Jim and Mike and the only one with an official giant honkin’ grain of truth to go on is the latter.

I know you have to promote CT but it must get old to rehash everything you just said yesterday.

Seeing CT live made me realize why some of the material in the DVDs doesn’t play so well on the smaller, less live TV screen: it was cultivated in front of a live audience. During the “best of” sequence, the audience roared at bits I thought were sort of flat, like the “ready boots” riff from “The Oozing Skull.” The difference is of course the receptiveness of a well-lubed audience full of adoring fans who cling to your every word. Be that as it may, their new take on SCCTM was much saltier than the MST3K version, plus the movie was longer, so I got to see some hysterically bad moments left on the cutting room floor. If I had the means I would follow CT like people used to follow the Grateful Dead. I’d sell tie-die t-shirts, hits of LSD and all natural pita bread stuffed with sprouts and sprinkled with more LSD.
