With cousin and partner Yoram Globus, Golan ran Cannon Films for a decade, releasing more than a dozen films a year in its prime. The studio was behind such films as “The Delta Force,” the “Death Wish” sequels, “Masters of the Universe” and “Bloodsport.”
MSTies will remember that the team also produced the movie in episode 516- ALIEN FROM L.A.
Thanks to Paul for the heads up.
Golan Globus was the 80’s version of American International; no one was in that group would be confused with Irving Thalberg but I can’t say I was never entertained by their films.

FYI, they did produce some serious movies. An example was 1987’s Shy People, about a woman from New York visiting a Cajun relative in the Louisiana boonies.

…and they get attacked by giant radioactive catfish? No? What a waste. Why even bother.

GOLAN GLOBUS NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Edit: R.I.P. and have Rifftrax done American Ninja 2? That was one of my childhood ninja favorites but seeing it a few years ago it is TERRIBLE and rife with riffing possibilities.

R.I.P
I was watching the Golan Globus production “America 3000” just last night, and imagining the potential riffs in my head. Shout Factory recently released it in a four pack with other sci fi flicks that have been M.I.A on video since the days of VHS.
Rifftrax really should do the sequel to Alien From L.A. Yes, it exists!
Isn’t “Outlaw” a Cannon film?

#5 Outlaw is a Cannon film but Golan and Globus did not work on it.

Cannon Films also gave us Over the Top and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Damn, I’m really gonna miss this guy.

Seriously, the current batch of B-movie mavens could take a page out of this guy’s book. I loved these films.
