Joel at BlobFestThe classic 1950s sci-fi/horror movie “The Blob” was partially filmed in and around the little town of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and the town’s merchants, especially the historic Colonial Theater, do their best not to let people forget it. Every summer they have a weekend-long “BlobFest” and one of the guests for this year’s fest will be Joel. More information here.

How cool is that? Not just Joel attending, but that the fest exists at all….
I’ve sworn off ever remarrying. However, right here and right now, I would like to officially state, if I ever remarry, I will spend my honeymoon at Blobfest…
Which could be the first step toward divorce.

I’ve gone to the Colonial before; it’s a really nice old-style theater. I was there at last year’s Blobfest for a double feature: “The Blob” and “Them!” I’m planning on going there on Saturday for “The Blob” and “Mothra”. I didn’t stick around for the fire extinguisher parade.
Oh, and in the theater balcony, near the windows for the projection booth, there’s a plaque signifying the spot where the Blob attacked the theater patrons.

Why not ride to the fest on a motorcycle wearing
a wehrmacht uniform? Then after the movies get on it
to make a great escape.

I’m from Phoenixville, and my father, along with most of his high school class, was an extra in Blob for the crowd scenes.
In some parallel universe, I got to see Cinematic Titanic riff The Blob sitting in the Colonial with my son. And it’s a very happy universe indeed.

I too live in Phoenixville; Mary Jo was at the 2007 Blobfest. To me, it’s the perfect venue for the MST gang.

Went to Blobfest yesterday. I went to the early double feature of “The Blob” and “Mothra” (the latter in the original Japanese). Afterwards, I looked around the street fair for a bit. I didn’t stay too long, because I was headed to another revival showing. This one was in Rahway, NJ; it was an innocuous wartime comedy, “Pvt. Buckaroo”, featuring the Andrews Sisters and Shemp Howard.
I didn’t see Joel at Phoenixville, but there was a big crowd and I was at the early show. Anyone else see him there?

I heard that Joel only comes out at night, in honor of Edgar Winter. :liquor: :liquor: :liquor: :liquor: :liquor:
