I’m oddly proud that I haven’t seen any of the movies nominated in any of the major categories. Absolutely none. (There a quite a few I’d like to see, but I’m in no rush.) Conversely, I’m a bit embarrassed that the only nominees I have seen were in the visual effects category. Hey, going to the movies is freakin’ expensive these days. I want eye candy.

Though I have seen a few of the nominated movies, I didn’t see the Oscars because they generally reward boring or overtly liberal-baiting films. I assume “12 Years A Slave” and “Dallas Buyers Club” took most the awards.
That said, had I known the RiffTrax Crew was on the job, I would have jumped in.

I saw “Blue Jasmine” and liked it very much. Great performances and a wonderful ending.

Sorry Ralph #3 but I have to totally disagree with you on Blue Jasmine.
While I agree that Cate deserved an Oscar (though Amy Adams was better) for solid acting, the movie itself was pointless. A waste of time and money with no real story and no real reason to involve yourself.
I also found it unforgivable that “Rush” did not receive one nomination. I though that even technically it was better than anything up there but Gravity. Rush came together as a solid movie and solid entertainment. Yet it was totally ignored. Probably for reasons Matty said above in #2.
I also did not watch as Ellen is good but has not delivered the good openings I have enjoyed int he past. I did not know about Kevin, Bill, and Mike and am SORRY I missed them however.
