The tail, indeed.
An excellent short from Rifftrax. I’m quite fond of any shorts involving food (and if you get the Henry Slinkman callback, you probably are too) and this one has a lot of it, albeit in often gross form. As anyone with an inkling of knowledge about Hormel knows, they aren’t exactly known for choice cuts, but they try to put their best foot forward here and fail miserably, at least in today’s context. The number of “funny words” here, as noted by MKB, is off the charts here. It’s hilarious, and it’s definitely worth a purchase.
P.S. Looks like Rifftrax has a new outro, with an a capella jingle instead of the jarring chord at the end.

This is arguably the “Setting Up A Room” short for 2014. The short itself is way overlong at nearly 30 minutes with a lot of unnecessary exposition that only drags it down to a slow crawl. Seeing the cows stripped of their flesh was almost too much for me and probably would have sent little kids shrieking out of the room.
Having said that, a lot of the riffs were on-target and even the short itself offered a number of odd turns, such as the mispronunciation of “Hormel” near the beginning by one of the kids and the use of terms that today certainly have different meanings, such as… well, I think it’s best if you are just surprised by them as I was.
Overall, if you liked “Setting Up A Room”, then this is for you, although you may not want to eat meat for a while…a long while… :-)

Any riff on meat product has to be good! It’s the phrase I live my life by.

“We only have enough food left for three days.”
Then we’ll have to eat the Hormel stuff.

@1: They actually did away with the jarring chord several years back (thank goodness), but the Jonathan Coulton jingle is brand-new.
Awesome short (or medium, I guess?)! Time to celebrate with some Spam and eggs.

So that’s how they make skinless weiners! I have to admit to being a little distracted by my fascination with the various automated systems on display in this film, so I think this will get plenty of repeat plays from me to fully absorb the hilarity.
In case there’s anyone wondering, you don’t see any animals being slaughtered, but there are some somewhat grisly images of what clearly used to be animals being butchered. If you harbor any delusions about where meat (and “meat products”) come from this will set you straight.
Is that JoCo on the outro? I’m not so sure. Either way, it’s a million times better than the old power chord. Still way too loud, though. And it’s a little weird to say “It’s time for RiffTrax!” at the end of the short, but now I’m nitpicking.

I must admit, I learned a lot from this short. I had no idea that it was legal to cook food inside the can, or that pickled pigs were meant to be edible. Who knew? Go, HORmal!

Not just edible. They’re a delicacy.

I was expecting something along the line of Upton Sinclair, but I was surprised at how non-gory it actually was. The highlight for me: Massive blocks of bacon! Yum!
