Weekend Discussion Thread: Best Three Episodes in a Row

First, let me say that it’s entirely possible somebody sent me this suggestion in the past, but, if you did, sorry, I lost it.

A lot of people in the episode guide comments have noted that the spot we are in in the rotation right now, the last three episodes of season eight — Space Mutiny, Time Chases and Overdrawn at the Memory Bank — are a really great run of shows.

So, let’s discuss our favorite three-episode runs of the show.

My pick is:
309- THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN
310- FUGITIVE ALIEN
311- IT CONQUERED THE WORLD

They were really hitting their stride.

What’s your pick?

Also, PLEASE keep sending those suggestions for threads!!

    No contest for me:

    820 – Space Mutiny
    821 – Timechasers
822 – Overdrawn at the Memory Bank

Three cheesy but competently made 80s/90s films with entertaining actors (sometimes unintentionally entertaining) and some of my favorite riffs and host segments ever (Eddie Nelson FTW). Probably watched those three episodes the most.

@hellokittee I watched a LOT of movies recorded on video and shown on public TV, public access, or in syndication back in the day, and Overdrawn has that bit of charm to it for me that probably turns away other viewers. The poorly rendered or cheesy effects, the silly but inspired story (let’s face it, this is the public-access 80s version of The Matrix), it all just makes it better for me. Plus: Raul Julia. Even in this, the man just sells it. When he’s interfaced, I truly believe it. Plus, his Puerto Rican Bogart impression is enjoyable. And again, the Riffs are dynamite for me. “Doctor Who…the hell cares?” “Hey, it’s TV’s Frank! He’s moved up in the world!” “WHOA! Huge slam on anteaters out of nowhere!” (I use a variation on this quite often).

Justin Bailey #19 – You beat me to it! (Although that MIGHT be because I’m commenting three days late.) “Manos”=legend. “Warrior”=legend to me. “Hercules”=awesome.

I’ll also include #504-#506. I really enjoyed “Super Dragon” and can’t argue with “Sinbad” and “Eegah” as cornerstone shows.

Also, appropriately, #511-#513, or the “Passing of the Torch” chunk of shows.

In fact, the entire first half of season 5 was just, epic.

    806 – Undead

    Let’s keep going

    807 – Terror From The Year 5000
    808 – She-Creature

I love the oldies. 805 is my all-time favorite.

    506 – Eegah!
    507 – I Accuse My Parents

All very different film, but all brilliant episodes.

    #55 PumaFace,

805 is also my favorite. I’ve probably seen it two dozen times and still laugh hysterically. Especially when the big dumb guy is carrying around the head.

Mike, insert me into her cleavage and get lost……

@ #55 Pumaface & #57 Huggybear Agreed, Thing That Couldn’t Die, best episode of the first half of season 8 IMHO. Probably would have been the best for the whole season if not for such strong contenders in the back half!
