We are saddened to report the loss of Jared Barlow, who frequently commented on Satellite News under the screen name “F Burroughs.” Jared passed away suddenly on Sept. 1st in Baltimore, MD. He was 43 years old.
Our condolences go to Jared’s family, including his sister, Joce, who informed us of his passing.
That’s terrible! My condolences to Mr. Barlow’s family members.
That’s nice that they contacted the web site. Sounds like this place meant a lot to him.
RIP fellow mystie.
So sad to hear one of our fellow MST fans is gone.He was one of us that “GOT IT.”
To the members of Mr. Barlow’s family and friends please place all the good memories of
him in your hearts and remember him whenever someone laughs. Remember his love, kindness,
and joy.Picture him sleeping, far removed from all the sadness and anxiety of the old
world. Never loose his love and the memories of all the joy you’ve shared over the years.
Find time to watch one or more of his favorite MST movies and place him beside you laughing
and enjoying something that gave him so much joy.
Way too young. We’ll miss you bud.
Romans 14:8 – If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
My condolences to his family.
Thats too young, how horrible …and scary. My condolences
This makes me incredibly sad ..I didnt know him but I have dealt with death in my own family within the past year and it still and will continue to upset me
Oh, hell. “Average Joe” Barlow passed away?
I’m truly saddened to hear of his passing. Godspeed, Joe.
Matt,
I’m not sure if you’re joking or not, but just to avoid any misunderstandings: Jared Barlow and “Average Joe” Barlow are two different people.
My condolences to Mr. Barlow’s family and friends, may the joy he found in MSTs always be with him.
Deepest condolences to the Barlow family. Always sad to hear that a member of our community has passed.
Always sad to lose one of our own. “We accept him, we accept him, one of us, one of us.” Now he’s up in that big satellite in the sky, looking down on us and riffing on what he sees. Condolences to his surviving family and friends.
Much to young to have left us. Condolences to all his family and friends.
My thoughts and prayers are with this family in their loss. 43 is too young. So sad. I’ll keep an eye out for some of his posts on the episode guide listings…
The obit page link above opens to a very nice picture of our friend.
Much too young. My condolences to his family and friends.
He was the first person I ever tape traded with in the late ’90s and early 2000s. I’d just discovered MST in 1998. By 2001 I’d collected the entire series on VHS, and I still remember the name J. Barlow as the name that started the trading/buying process for me. RIP.
Much too soon to pass away.
Perhaps his family will put his favorite mst3000 episodes with him.
When my mother passed away we put one of her favorite lottery scratchoff
tickets, a crossword puzzle theme, with her.
Sorry to hear it. As others have said, that’s far too young. He’s probably somewhere watching and riffing on us now.
:-(
PRAYERS FROM HERE TO THERE! <3
Would it be inappropriate to say he’s one of the good, dead ones? Nah, he’d get the joke. My condolences to his wife and son.
My deepest sincerly sympathies to his family. I never knew him, but bye the comments and as a mstie he is my brother. I hope to be worthy and join him one day in Heaven, enjoying a riffing of a movie with him.
In spite of my contempt for unsolicited advice on the internet, as someone who’s lost more than a few people dear to me in my relatively short life I just want to remind everyone that, in light of this grim news – and of all the truly horrible things going on in the world for that matter – for heaven’s sake tell your loved ones how much they mean to you as often as you can, no matter how silly it may feel at the time. Because you just never know. And while I’m spouting platitudes, never resent the time together you’ve lost when you can be grateful for the time you had. And above all, watch out for snakes. I can’t stress that enough.
This makes me sad. My condolences and sympathies to Barlow’s family.
Rest in peace, Mr. Barlow. Thanks for all your contributions to this little community of ours.
God Bless.
Rest in peace MSTIE brother.
Three years younger than me. WAY too young! My condolences to his family & friends.
If I’m not mistaken, he also used the screen name “Fat on Flavo-Fives.”
Too young to go, just 3 years older than me, and one less MSTie in B-more now, damn.
I`ve heard it said that;
“No One Truly Dies As Long As Someone Remembers Them.”
It`s always ‘Movie Sign’ SOMEWHERE, folks.
This is very sad news. I haven’t been contributing to this site for that long, but I remember Mr. Barlow’s contributions to the (never-ending) discussion very well.
We will watch an episode tonight in your honour.
R.I.P. brother
