Matt Mueller of OnMilwaukee.com interviews Mary Jo, Trace and Josh.
Also, The Milwaukee office of the AV Club has a nice little interview that breaks some news about upcoming projects for the team.
Also, Frank and Trace were at Scare-a-con in Syracuse last weekend, and here’s a short video interview that mostly asks them the usual questions but does also ask some good ones.
Here’s the rundown once again:
Sept. 20 (“The Doll Squad”) & 21 (“Danger on Tiki Island”), 8 p.m., Pabst Theater, Milwaukee. More info here.
Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m. The Family Arena, St Charles, Mo. “The Astral Factor” More info here.
Oct. 19, 7 p.m. (“The Doll Squad”) and 9:30 p.m. (“The Astral Factor”) at The Castro Theatre (as part of SketchFest), San Francisco. More info here.
Nov. 1, 7 p.m. (“The Wasp Woman”) and 9:30 p.m. (“The Doll Squad”) at the Capitol Center for the Arts, Concord, N.H. More info here.
Nov. 2, 8 p.m. at the Calvin Theater, Northampton, Mass. “The Astral Factor.” More info here.
Nov. 3, 7 p.m. Wilbur Theatre, Boston. “The Doll Squad.” More info here.
Dec. 30, 8 p.m. Keswick Theatre, suburban Philadelphia. “The Wasp Woman” and “The Doll Squad.” More info here.
Any word on whether they plan to release a live DVD of THE DOLL SQUAD?

I really wish I could make at least one more Cinematic Titanic show, but it doesn’t look like I can work it out. These shows have all been great and I have enjoyed every one I’ve seen (I actually made it to 20 live performances!). I’m looking forward to seeing what new projects the CT crew gets involved with. Good luck to all of you.

Nice to see them FINALLY coming back to Northampton, MA on their way to Boston.
(“Walked down Main Street in five minutes”, why I oughtaa….Well, actually, you can; maybe that’s why they hadn’t been back.)
Question, though: They keep listing “The ASTRAL Factor” on the show’s schedules.
Do they mean “The Alien Factor”–ie., aliens attacking dreary pre-fab buildings in Baltimore, and cops in two-door cop cars–or “The Astral Factor”, the invisible-killer movie from 1975?

I mean, maybe they are; I was going to invite some friends to see Alien Factor, but if it’s an all-new one that isn’t on the CT site…

Seeing is this is the end of Cinematic Titanic, has the cast discussed joining Riffrax? Or better yet getting an MST3K reunion movie off the ground?

No love for SAMSON AND THE SEVEN MIRACLES OF THE WORLD?
Really hoping that SAMSON, DOLL and ASTRAL eventually get a release of some sort.

#4 I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the folks did projects with Rifftrax. I think Mary Jo did something
with them. Some things seem fine as the are, with the 3 guys doing Rifftrax. But unannounced guests at the live
shows would be cool, seeing as how the Rifftrax shows are seen in so many theaters at once. I think hearing Trace
calling out to Frank from back stage and saying “Hey Frank check out those 3 guys on stage, lets put them in rocket
ship and launch them into space.” And Frank could say ” Can we send them cheesy movies and monitor their minds?”
Oh to dream of things I’d like to see.
Anyway I’m going to the Nov. 2nd and 3rd.shows, trying to talk my wife into going to the first show on Friday.
I said it would be like the Woodstock of movie Riffing.
She said “I told you to stay away from the Brown Acid.”
I said “Sometimes I feel like a motherless child.”

@Toyland Chairman (#4): Oh, how I wish. I thought the 25th anniversary of MST3K would be the perfect opportunity for “Rifftrax meets Cinematic Titanic” – no, even better, “Rifftrax vs. Cinematic Titanic” – but no such luck.
Still, as I’m in Boston, I’ll have the privilege of seeing Cinematic Titanic’s second to last show.

@ #3 EricJ – Cinematic Titanic has been performing Astral Factor for about a year and a half now. It’s a great riff.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that when they say they’re doing “The Astral Factor,” it means they’re doing The Astral Factor. I’d love to see them dust off Alien Factor for a live show, but I’d love even more for them to record a riffing of Astral Factor before they call it quits. I saw them do Astral Factor at NJPAC March 31, 2012 and everyone should have the chance to see it. I know the exact date because I bought the souvenir poster, which the Titans (and Gruber) all signed.

I’ll be at the Pabst on Friday! It should be a blue ribbon show!

Glad to see you guys stick to your guns and never came to Denver, even in the end. We’ll be happy to see you go.

Bummer. No final farewell stop in Chicago. I mean, I know Milwaukee isn’t THAT far, but Chicago’s a fairly good size city with lots of fans.

I’m leaving for Milwaukee tomorrow for the Friday show. And, weather permitting, I’ll try for the Philadelphia show on 12/30.
And I’m still hoping that this is, indeed, just a hiatus and not a full shutdown. They may not start touring again, but maybe a couple of individual special shows here and there would be welcome. Or even going back to occasional studio-recorded DVDs.
Yeah, I’m an optimist.

#12 Well it’s good to see you’re happy about something.
Did spitting out the sour grapes help?
How many times did the MST cast come to Denver during it’s 10 years on TV?
Were you glad to see them go when the show went off?

Who can say, for sure, why CT didn’t make it to Denver, or any other place. Perhaps they weren’t able to secure a theater in that area. I wish they could’ve made one more trip to NY. You go where you can go.
The difference between being able to see CT and MST3K is that you could watch MST3K on TV every week for 10 years or so. CT isn’t broadcasting weekly on TV, or anywhere else, for that matter.
Let me cast a vote for releasing any other shows CT’s recorded. Are they still recording shows, or did they stop awhile ago….?
Thanks CT for entertaining me.

i’m just hoping for a rifftraxing of a cinematic titanic show (“you know what really stinks? that frank guy!”). or, you know, vice versa. whatever, as long as they’re all still making me laugh my butt off.

So sad I never got to see them on tour! Wish they had ever made it a little further south.

How much of that time tube do you think they ended up filling?

Dude…this…sucks! Did those guys EVER play in Oregon or Washington? The NorthWest got hosed! Welp…guess I’m off to Hulu…again.

I’m pretty sure they’ll release The Astral Factor and Doll Squad on dvd sometime. That would be perfect for us fans..I only saw them once in Dallas and the 5 hour drive was worth it and would do it again if I could..Thanks CT! Hope this isn’t the last time we’ll hear from you guys(and gal)

Tom Servo: I’m pretty sure even John Denver never visited Denver. That really sort of gels it for me.
Gypsy: Rocky Mountain HIGGGGGGGGGGGGH!
Crow: CAW LOW RAW DOE….
Mike: But whatever you do, do not criticize their airport. Very sensitive about that. Very.
(all robots nod vigorously & vocalize in agreement)

I’ll be going to the Nov 2 show in Massachusetts. I can only hope that they will be doing some kind of riffing in the future. There are just so many crap movies left un-riffed.

#20: Yes, they came to Seattle and I saw them do the “Samson” film there (or whatever it was, it was a sword-and-sandal film).

I foresee the day when SHOUT! re-releases the CT dvds as a large boxed set. It may not happen until 2033 and we’ve devolved into apes, but …

@#20: They came to Seattle and Portland in 2009. I saw East Meets Watts (called the Dynamite Brothers at the time) in Seattle in 2009 and it was hilarious. I will be going to the San Francisco shows with a couple of friends and can’t wait.

It’s such a shame this is coming to an end.
And I feel bad for anyone in Minnesota. Birthplace of the riff, and they don’t even get a goodbye show.

CORRECTION: The Pabst shows are at 7:00 PM Friday (“The Doll Squad”) and 7:00 PM Saturday (“Danger on Tiki Island”) NOT 8 PM as mentioned above. DOORS OPEN AT 6:00 PM both nights

So sad to see Cinematic Titanic disband, but I totally get it and sincerely hope that everyone in CT can continue to amuse me as I begin the long sad slide into middle age.
If you can come to Phoenix to do the amusing, that would be great.
Even better if you can come to Tucson, because then someone won’t have to drive me to Phoenix. Who wants to be driven to Phoenix?
Joel, any time you want to come back to The Loft and do another show, I’ll be there paying for a premium ticket.
I haven’t plumped for a Rifftrax in a while, but I’d certainly do so if any of y’all would guest for a riff of an entertaining exploitation movie.

Thanks for the head’s up on the video.
It’s always a pleasure to see the guys (all of them) or hear them do podcasts; I have an ever growing collection of MST3K alum podcasts.
Trace looks very distinguished with the goatee.

Quite a difference between a few rare live shows as an extra, and live shows being the main part of the group. Live show would have been great, but I could watch MST3K at home. CT has only put a handful of shows on video, and the main focus has been the live shows and they ignored a big region of the country during their entire run.
Given that this is their final run, it would have been nice of them do at least get with Fathom and do one live streaming show. Maybe if they had given more people the chance to enjoy their show they could keep going, rather than just going to the same places year after year. But it’s understandable. Got to get 3 shows in New England, wouldn’t want people to drive 2 hours.

Best of luck to them, but I won’t miss them.

I’m going to the October 12 show, my first CT performance–and, obviously, my last! I wanted to ask the vets: if I want autographs, what’s the procedure? Do they sign before the show, after, both? How long before showtime is it worth showing up?

They always do signings after the show where everybody queues up in a long line and the Titans sit at a table with dozens of Sharpies pretending they’re not exhausted and being really good sports. There’s usually a merchandise table with DVDs, posters, and Trace and Mary Jo’s books, though they made be running out of product by now.

Got my ticket to the Concord double-feature!
They really better release The Astral Factor, The Doll Squad, and Sampson on DVD or we’ll have to round up a mob with pitchforks and torches.

They’ll be foam pitchforks and electric torches, of course. Just for show really. Is there a Nerf angry monster-hunting villager playset?

For anyone complaining about Cinematic Titanic never making it to their city/state/region remember that they told us MANY times they did not pick the theaters they performed at. They only went where they were invited to perform by a theater. Also remember this was their job, not just something they did in their spare time. I’m sure they would have been more than happy to play in other locations given the opportunity for a paying gig. It’s unfortunate that everyone didn’t get to see them perform live. I really wish more people did, but don’t blame them for not coming to your home simply because you really wanted them to. That just isn’t how it worked. For now enjoy the DVDs and I hope they find other ways to entertain us in the future.

@39 – Joel even has a twitter now. What does it mean?
What does Twitter mean? Oh, that’s that site where everyone posts random stuff because they’re too cut off from any social activity in their lives, and then all the corporations get accounts because they think it’s the next AOL. ;)
And I’d love to see them use new videos to replace the high physical cost of touring, but just so long as they continue one-night-only Live videos.
I like CT, but that “Underground bunker” phase just brought back TOO many old Film Crew traumas. (Watching the audience in the Live videos brings back those good old days of the Boston Sci-Fi Marathon audiences…)

Does anyone know if they are selling copies of the DVDs that are currently unavailable on Amazon? I need Rattlers and Alien Factor to complete my collection.

Last weekend I was fortunate to see the Cinematic Titanic show in Milwaukee…I had such a great time that I am considering trying to make their last show in Philadelphia.
I am hoping someone who is from that area can give me a little help.
I am in Illinois and so if I am able to make it I will be arriving at The Philadelphia International Airport. I plan on arriving fairly early on the day of the show and leaving the following morning in order to be back home for New Year’s Eve with my family.
My question is, once I arrive, what is my best cost effective way to reach Glenside, PA from the airport? (And back again the following morning.) I really don’t want to have to rent a car…but if that is my best option I would consider it.
I thank you in advance for anyone who might be able to help me out with this question. :-)
