WHAT ABOUT IN CHICAGO???????
Does anyone know if there are any plans for perhaps the Rifftrax crew to riff the restored version? I’d love to be able to see what I’ve been laughing at all these years.
And if you haven’t been following the Manos restoration’s progress, they just announced Synapse Films will be distributing the DVD and Blu Ray releases. No date set yet, but I would expect it to be out before the end of the year.
Who da thunk such a thing was ever possible, Blu-Ray treatment for this “film”. We truly are a society of contentists.
Off-topic but Amazon has basically every box set for between $23.99-25.00. Amazing prices.
#5 I went on over to Amazon.ca and found that the sets there are still $40.
Canada stinks.
You realize, somewhere Hal Warren is laughing at us for helping him win that bet with Stirling Silliphant in a way he never would’ve imagined.
Uses Voice and Body Effectively
I know it’s not the Restored MANOS but the sale #5 mentioned at AMAZON has the 2 DISC set for $12.00. I like the art work on this set and plan to get it signed at a CT show in NOVEMBER. Also #7, I would love to see how much money has been made on this movie over the years since it was made, then see how much it made when it first came out.
@ Ross: I’m 99.9% certain Hal Warren never made a dime of profit off Manos; in fact he funded the entire thing out of his own pockets (on a bet, as Ken mentioned), so I doubt what little money he got selling it into distribution even covered the cost of production. Of course, Hal was never trying to make a career as a filmmaker. He wagered he could produce a complete movie all by himself, and he did it, bless him. And our world is all the richer for it.
I fervently wish that those courageous people restoring it would also treat the film to a “make- over”. That is, find TALENTED people in the film industry, re-cut the film, add proper music, foley effects and get more than four people to loop the dialogue. Imagine… Hal’s vision unhampered by his lack of actual talent and resources. It would also have a new running time of 40 minutes…
It would still suck out loud, so I would also request they add some dewbacks and tauntauns and a radio in The Master’s hand instead of Torgo’s burning flesh…
Crapola! Can’t go to the Philly show! There’s just no way I’d be able to get home from work, shower, and then endure the traffic like that to get there in time. Maybe a DVD release? ;-)
PhilaMocha, the new cheesesteak flavored latte from Starbucks.
Cool! Washington! Can’t go (Did you hear that? That’s the sound of sighing.) I have stuff going on, and I’m quite a ways away. But, you know, still cool!
