And what about ‘parts: the clonus horror?’ First the Xuxa get-up, then Crow’s horribly truncated beak… *shudder*

Tom Servo dressed up as Barbara Streisand’s character from A Star is Born in The Violent Years episode..Servo banging his head on the microphone and having a breakdown..Disturbing and not funny at all..

Thank goodness our mother never gave us kids Flintstone Vitamins.
I never realized they were so big and, ah, difficult to swallow.

Oh, and how about Torgo delivering pizza to Dr. F. and Frank.
Do you really want those rolls Torgo kept warm?

Yeah, I usually skip that one Gary, BUT…I watched it a couple of days ago and I was cracking up hard! Just Kevin transitioning from sobbing to straight up screaming then to half-assed dancing/singing had me LMAO. I’ll probably go back to skipping it though.

I like Servo Streisand! not a bad list, but the time I was most shaken was seeing the last 3 seconds of this host segment, from Kitten with a Whip.

Can’t remember the episode, but it involved Mike and someone else playing deranged circus clowns ( maybe birthday clowns) … One started screeching and clown-Mike angrily ordered him to “get down on your knees and kiss my clown feet” …..funny, but a little uncomfortable ….

I’d add “The Private Life of Dr. Forrester and TV’s Frank” to that list, from the episode The Beginning of the End.

The segment where Mike hazed himself after the SOL crossed the equator was a little disturbing, mostly for Mike’s 17th century ball gown and how playfully chews on a curly lock of his wig.

“Matches for Mikey” was probably Mike Nelson’s most brilliant performance ever…..

In “Hercules and the Captive Women” Joel and the Bots do a sketch about “good-natured” brawling. After the brawl Joel spits out one of Crow’s eyeballs!

Any scene from teenage strangler with Mikey in it. And then when Mike Nelson does his imitation of Mikey. It’s brilliant yet frightening!

I’m with ck- how can you do a list of disturbing host segments without including Torgo? They’re all really disturbing, but I’d go with Operation Kid Brother’s because it comes out of almost nowhere and I DO NOT want to think about Torgo having to go to the bathroom.

Don’t forget when Joel hooks up Crow so we can see his dream and he dreams of Tom as a candy striper? The look on Joel’s face is priceless! I actually found that a little disturbing, but hilarious.

Love the life size flinstone vitamins mostly because of Frank’s delivery of “not the childrennnn!”

“You got any matches for Mikey?” My vote for number one most disturbing host sequence. Mike isn’t even blinking in that scene!

Well, Dr F asked for it…

I think the one that tops them all is when the brain guys sing “when I held your brain in my arms”.! That was absolutely brilliant!!

Things just keep popping into my mind! And I can’t forget when Krankor comes to visit during Invasion of the Neptune Men. Or who could forget the Canada song! There are so many it’s impossible to pick.

There’s one in “Alien from LA”. When Mike and the Bots do the “My Wild Irish Ireland” song Mike gets the hots for “Kathy Ireland Servo”.

“Hey, little girl, you want a salted nut roll?”

I think Frank said “I had Jello today.” when Dr. Forrestor removes the pillow. I could be wrong.

Oh, and what’s the episode where Tom Servo has Ortega (TISCWSLaBMZ)
cater a lunch on the SoL? Ortega’s brunch, while certainly gourmet in
selection, seemed a bit lacking in hygiene (should you really ash over
your food?). On the plus side, Ortega was a great PBS phone banker for Pearl.

Obviously this would have been a good weekend topic. Two that come to mind for me are The Drinking Jacket, complete with DTs, and then when Clay replaces Frank’s blood with radiator fluid in ‘Eeegah’. Something about his system needing to be flushed nightly – and that nice little touch where Forrester loosens the radiator cap and holds a towel over his nose as there’s a loud hiss and Frank sighs deeply. Just delightful.

(@3 – Uh, I seem to remember Flintstones vitamins were chewable, thus training us for our adult addictions to antacid tablets?)

How about Mike reading the “fake” 7-yo. letter from Kitten With a Whip(?)
Obviously the S6 was declaring some independence from Joel-era conventions like prop-comedy and write-in fans, but there were times they could just flat out flip off the old fans in doing it–“What, you want us to bring out the lemur puppet and the big head, now?”

  26. JCC says:

A lot of Mike mentions here. He can definitely be a very disturbing man though, especially when he’s in drag. That’s some good old fashioned nightmare fuel!

How about Joel’s abusive game of Rock, Paper, Scissors with The Bots? It ends with him getting tackled and pecked at by Gypsy and Tom and Crow admitting to having killed something and stuffing it in Joel’s pillowcase I believe.

I’ve always loved how Frank says “Terry, Noooooo!” years before we watched Teen Age Crime Wave. Also, “Turn, Frank, and cough.”

I am UTTERLY SHOCKED that the long segment from Stranded in Space is not mentioned. You know, the one where Crow tells Servo about his dream involving Joel in lingerie, which leads into a discussion about Ward E and icky things, and then the reveal is Joel coming out in a lingerie apron…

Well, since no one but me likes Stranded in Space, I guess I’m not that shocked after all.

Tom Servo going ape at the end of “The Leech Woman” is both amusing and disturbing at the same time. “Read the lines, Nelson!!! Read them!!”

@ 28: EricJ not liking the Mike era? It is kind of subtle… You know I do recall him professing his dislike once or twice… in every one of his posts…

I also thought the “Servo refueling Crow” from “The Starfighters” was disturbing. Hilarious, but disturbing.

One that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the final host segment of “The Creeping Terror” where Servo and Crow try to force Gypsy to eat them.

Also, @26: Mike had 7 in the list and Joel had 8. That’s as close as you can get to equal with an odd number.

  36. I always thought the segment in Eegah where Crow and Servo alter Joel to look like Arch Hall, Jr. was disturbing. No one should have to look like that.

  37. Cheapskate Crow says:

I can’t remember the episode but my favorite for this category is where Servo’s head is detached from his body for some reason and he is looking at and complimenting his own posterior. Joel’s response is priceless and I use it in many situations to this day, “I think you’re getting into a whole weird area here Tom”. I also love the one where Crow dreams of Servo as a candystriper.

#32.. y’all give him a break, now… He likes stuff and things! Like that thing we all did that one time… remember? ooooh yeah>… :)

Joel gets the bots to do pictures of their ideal families. I accuse my Parents.. I remember that being a bit off kilter into the weird area. Doesn’t Joel end that by whispering that Tom should be in a straight jacket…? .

  39. Gary Bowden says:

@Cheapskate Crow…I believe it was THE GIANT GILA MONSTER when Joel made Crow and Servo into the thing with 2 heads.I’m pretty sure that’s the one where Servo is complimenting his own “backporch”..The one with Crow dreaming and Servo is dressed as a candy striper and when he wakes up,Servo is dressed as a candy sriper, that’s BRIDE OF THE MONSTER.

How the hell did Tragic Moments Figurines not make the list?

  41. Manos Bride says:

I thought it was rather disturbing when Joel dressed up as a dairy farmer from southern Wisconsin. “Real life simulation? Call this what you may, the fact is Joel’s dressing up robots as farm animals!” That was one of those where it was obvious Joel had been in space WAY too long.

  42. Viking Woman says:

I always thought Pod Gypsy (and then Servo and Crow at the end) in Giant Spider Invasion was one of the freakier things done on the show. It STILL creeps me out!

I think Crows tabacco habit is quite disturbing. Especially when Servo says “This Crows tabacco juice soda isn’t very good”. I also liked Servos new head at the beginning of “The Violent Years”. Very disturbing!
