I can’t afford the ticket much less the cost of going to the USA because I live in a Third World country! YAY!
Oh wait…

I’d like to take my 12 year old grandson but I need to know if the nude shower scene will be cut.

@2: From the Rifftrax FB page a few weeks back…
Some of you have asked (and many we’re sure are just understandably curious) if we’re doing an edited version of Starship Troopers. We are not. The standard R-rated version is the only one Sony makes available for licensing.
For those trying to make a determination about whether or not to bring younger or more sensitive viewers, some information about content may help: there are two moments of nudity in the film and a great deal of excessive, one might even say, cartoonish violence (this is Paul Verhoeven, after all!).
We believe the three of us up there adding our commentary undercuts the impact of the material quite a bit. But we will also take special care to comedically mute those few moments that earns it its R, and creatively make it as PG-13 as possible.
We hope this helps, and once again offer our sincere thanks for your support!

I can see how many people may not consider this the best movie ever made, but I believe it was intended as a dark comedy. “Riffing” it seems a bit out of place, unlikely to produce a surprising or intelligent quip that could supersede it.

In related news, AMC theaters need to get their act together (still unable to purchase from them for this show).

While the Brains did say that riffing on a comedy was more difficult, it wasn’t impossible. And having seen “Starship Troopers” and being familiar with Rifftrax, the basic material for some funny stuff is there and I have no doubt that Mike, Kevin & Bill will come up with more than enough surprising and intelligent quips.
As for the concerns over content, any chance the guys can contact CT and ask to borrow the Breast Blimp from “Frankenstein’s Castle of Freaks”?

Funny that people are worried about kids seeing boobs but not the extreme violence.
Ah, my beloved America where we hate seeing the human body but love destroying it….

I agree. Kids should see boobs… oh wait.

People being bitten in half or having their brains sucked out of their skulls by alien monsters: No problem for children.
Naked human bodies: Deeply traumatizing for kids, must be avoided at all costs.
Um, what?
I do think they have enough material. After all, they did a pretty good job with this movie for the brief Robot’s Choice Awards – I think they can make it work for a full-length version.

Yeah, this is one my wife and I will pass on (and we’ve been to all of the rest of them).
I agree with gorto in that this isn’t riffing material but then again, I also don’t agree with the choice of many of RT’s efforts on newer films with the exception of the stinker “Twilight” films. They really ought to try riffing one of those in the… Oh, wait.

@#4 (gorto) I respectfully disagree and anticipate enjoying ST much more with the riffing than without. You’re definitely entitled to your own opinion, though.

Hey, New York City folks:
Are/were you able to buy tickets for the showing in Manhattan at the Regal Union Square? I ask because Fandango’s not letting me buy tickets right now and shows a strike-through on the time for it. My question is, were tickets available and sold out? Or are they just not available yet?
If they sold out, I’ll grab tickets to the less-ideal but still-doable showing out in Queens (which does have tickets available right now). But if they haven’t gone up yet, well, I’ll just sit tight!

Amy – I got my Union Square tickets a few days ago. I’ve seen previous RT shows sell out quickly at Union Square, only to have them move it to a larger theater or expand the screening to 2 theaters a few days later, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re able to get tickets in a day or two.

Imagine if they got NPH as a guest riffer…
All I remember about this movie is Doogie and that by the end, I was rooting for the bugs.

It say No matching theater information was found.. but it was light up as available theater. ( I went there for another riff trax event.) Can I just not get tickets?

Unfortunately, I’m going to be out of town during the week they’re showing this. I even checked for theaters in the area, but no luck.
Very disappointed, considering I backed them. At least I’ll still get some free shorts!
