And, reminder: Fathom will be presenting the second of two “RiffTrax Live” repeat showings in movie theaters, which they’re calling “The Best of RiffTrax” on Thursday, Jan. 31. They’ll be showing a repeat of the Aug. 20, 2009. riff of “Plan 9 From Outer Space,” featuring the short “Flying Stewardesses.”
It was their very first “RiffTrax Live” and it was kind of a different animal from what it has evolved into currently. It had a host, Veronica Belmont, and a musical guest, Jonathan Coulton. More info here.
Anyone up for meeting up for the show in Albany, NY? We’ll get Bomber’s Burritos afterwards . . .
What it’s evolved into is much better than what it was, imo. Way too much filler in the early days. It’s a much tighter, leaner and meaner show now.
I caught Plan 9 the first time around and own both the live and studio versions of it. Even did a cover of the Rifftones “Plans 1-9” which you can hear on YouTube. I think I can get away with skipping this one.
The short looks interesting though… hmm.
Veronica Belmont is hot!
From the people who gave us Attack of the the eye creatures gives us Say No to to strangers! :-D
Wow, good eye Stan!
I wonder if the short is really titled like that or if Rifftrax made the mistake?
I really liked the Plan 9 live show. I didn’t get to see it when it was first broadcast live, but I was able to buy the DVD. When superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey we didn’t have power for seven days. However, I was able to charge my portable DVD player and watch the show with my wife. It was the first time she smiled in 5 days (since the lights went out). We’d both like to see Plan 9 on the big screen, but nobody can watch our 4 year old. Too bad, I bet it’s even better with a crowd.
The poster on Rifftrax.com doesn’t have the extra “to,” so it’s exclusive to (to) Satellite News. :)
This looks very very funny. lol lol … oh wait… that didn’t work.
Then my guess would be that Rifftrax probably saw the error and quickly changed it, since I doubt that The Satellite News is making these title cards themselves. We have the original Rifftrax error version here so ours is more valuable!
Getting back to the short film, a classic bit of Americana with men in three piece suits sitting on park benches giving away dogs right and left. 8-) I’m hoping that Rifftrax gets back to putting out these shorts more frequently… :-)
