“Freaks & Geeks” Reunion at Vanity FairVanity Fair has a big story, photos and more looking back at “Freaks and Geeks” that included a reunion of sorts. Josh (and Gruber), of course, were there.

Wow, John Francis Daley is all growed up. Yet Samm Levine looks exactly the same…

Joel should have been included too. He was great in the several episodes

Yeah, I only saw a couple episodes of that show, but loved Joel in his disco outfit.

“Freaks And Geeks” is the second best show ever.

Loved this show and still do.It was smart, funny and touching.Whoever canceled it doesn’t know what a quality tv show looks like.Trace and Joel were very good on the show and if it would’ve lasted another season,I would have like to have seen Frank as a substitute teacher.Or as a part-time janitor? :-) Looks like everyone looks the same as they did when the show was on..

I started watching FREAKS AND GEEKS because I read (probably on this website) that Joel and Trace would have small roles in the show. From the first episode, I was hooked, great cast, great music, very very funny and unique… I agree with #4, second best show ever.

Look in the Behind The Scenes pictures and you can see Joel (in the background) as the DJ from the episode Discos and Dragons.

That looks like Trace and Josh in the group photo, last row far right
(Trace with the hat).

This was a wonderful show, and it is incredible that it was even on network television. One hour dramedies were rare at the time the show was on the air, and a show where the character’s “victories” weren’t so obvious makes it even rarer. Paul Feig, the creator of “Freaks”, is a huge fan of MST3K, and was Vick Lawson, among other characters, in Joel’s “TV Wheel” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_TV_Wheel).
The show’s depiction of its time frame, 1980-81, was very true without hitting you over the head with it, like some other shows I’ve seen. I was just entering high school in 1981, so this time frame was very familiar, to me. I was lucky enough to get myself a box set of the show that came in a book that looks like a yearbook from the high school in the show, which came with great pictures and other little pieces of writing, as well as extra discs with out takes, screen test and other behind-the-scene goodies. I remember going to a website and putting my name on a petition list and being lucky enough to be able to get that set.
The commentaries are great on the shows, too. I would recommend this show to any and all MSTies. No matter what age you are, the trials and tribulations of teenagers, the angst and wonderment of discovery and the journey to adulthood, is basically the same, be it 1981 or 2012.

Yup, truly a remarkable show. I recently watched the whole series, and was blown away by the quality throughout. It’a amazing that Josh, Trace and Joel have not only MST3K as part of their legacy, but Freaks and Geeks as well.

And don’t forget Dave “Gruber” Allen who is Cinematic Titanics “roadie” and warm up act.

Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon on a daily basis.
It’s always interesting to read articles from other authors and use a little something from other websites.
