MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: Vol. XXV
Four DVD Box Set Features Previously Unreleased Episodes
Robot Holocaust, Kitten with a Whip, Operation Kid Brother and Revenge of the CreatureJoin the crew of the Satellite of Love as they spread holiday cheer with the newest release in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 line: Mystery Science Theater 3000: Vol. XXV. Available on DVD December 4th from Shout! Factory, this 4-DVD set is a must-have for fans of cult television shows and B-movies alike and features four episodes previously unreleased on DVD: Robot Holocaust, Operation Kid Brother, Kitten With A Whip and Revenge Of The Creature. Also included are all new bonus features, including introductions by Mike Nelson and Joel Hodgson, Life After MST3K: J. Elvis Weinstein, Jack Arnold at Universal, Life After MST3K: Bill Corbett and four exclusive Mini-Posters by artist Steve Vance.
MSTies who order this collection from ShoutFactory.com will receive bonus good-tidings in the form of a DVD featuring all nine installments of the MST-riffed, season one serial Radar Men From The Moon, presented together for the first time, including the previously unreleased chapter “Hills Of Death.” Also includes a new introduction by season one’s Tom Servo, J. Elvis Weinstein.
Since the dawn of recorded history, sacred texts have inspired intellectuals to enlighten the rest of us through their commentaries. To a certain, special kind of person – and if you’re buying this 25th collection of MST3K, pal, you’re one of them – cheesy movies are sacred texts. And who better to help us navigate the occult meanings of B-movies’ holiest scriptures than space captives Joel, Mike and their robot companions Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot? Their running commentaries allow us to laugh at inscrutable plots, painful performances and felonious filmmaking.
Mystery Science Theater 3000: XXV brings us Robot Holocaust, the tale of the young drifter, Neo, who leads a ragtag band of rebels against a robot army and its evil overlord, the Dark One; Kitten With A Whip, wherein Ann-Margret embodies youth gone bad in this story of a juvenile delinquent whose violent escape from reform school leads her to the house of a senatorial candidate; Operation Kid Brother, a knock-off spy film also known by another title, features Neil Connery (brother of Sean) as a plastic surgeon with hypnotic powers and a talent for lip reading who is recruited by a secret organization to take on a crime syndicate bent on destroying all steel-based power in the world; and Revenge Of The Creature, the less than classic sequel to Universal’s classic monster movie The Creature From The Black Lagoon has the luckless monster in captivity at a South Florida aquarium. He falls for a beautiful scientist and, clearly aware that his looks pose a challenge, foregoes the usual courtship rituals and kidnaps her.
Get ready for the funniest study session you’ll ever have as these four movies, unearthed from the ancient caves of Hollywood, are interpreted by the long-suffering scholars aboard the Satellite of Love.
Has anyone got a hard date when we can order this set from Shout!? I was on their web site as soon as I found out about the bonus disc. I used the question link and I have not gotten a reply yet. [sigh]

@48 – I assume you bought your DVDs from a reseller on Amazon rather than Amazon itself. When buying an item from Amazon, there will be a line of text that states who is selling the thing in question. If it is Amazon, it will say so. If not, it will list another name.
I took a picture of it:

It’s a crapshoot – I’ll occasionally get older, out-of-print stuff through resellers, but there’s always the chance it’s something pirated (or used when they claim it’s new, or whatever.) When something is being sold new and it’s in stock at Amazon itself, I fine it safer to just get it through them or another trusted major retailer. My DVD posters were not folded and were not inside the DVD cases, so I’d say there’s likely something fishy about your purchase.

“Operation Kid Brother” makes me chuckle every time I see it, because I think of the Arrested Development recurring gag “Operation Hot Brother/Mother”.

Went with the Amazon route when ordering the DVD set.
Yes, the Commander Cody set is tempting. However, having already cancelled one order to ensure that I get the MST3K and the other big Shout Factory release of December 4th (which is an Amazon exclusive)are shipped together in the same package (what can I say, I’m both a MiSTie and a brony, and I want to save on shipping), I don’t really want to make a bigger mess by doing another cancellation.

#52 Thanks for your help. I did order it as part of a package, with CT-WAR OF THE INSECTS AND RATTLERS along with MST3K XXIV. Both the CT DVDS are fine. both ( Sold by Cinema Titan, LLC ) But the box set just ticked me off all weekend I was stewing about it, I called twice and even left our Email but have not heard from them so I sent them a Email asking how to send it back. I said I would from now on by from SHOUT or from my local NEWBURY COMICS STORE. The thing about NEWBURY COMICS is when the sets first come out they charge about $36 bucks. When VOL.XXIV came out I was out of work and didn’t have the money at the time, when I did go back to work I went to the store and it was $55 bucks GRRRRR. Anyway with the next set I will get it from SHOUT for the extra disc, and I’ve never had a problem with stuff I’ve ordered from them in the past. One question. Is there a special way to order it so I’ll get the bonus disc with my set???

Captn Ross,
Everything you’re saying indicates you didn’t buy it directly from Amazon, but through a reseller on Amazon. Amazon doesn’t put little notes in like the one you describe, and they only sell new items.
Amazon does have a complaint system to report the seller if you need to. If you go to your account on Amazon and look up the order, the link should be there.

Thanks for the kind words. I don’t get down to Maine much, since I live on the Prairies, but I do drink beer and am always on the lookout for interesting ways to quaff local brews (passed through Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan on holiday this summer–lots of great beers in those states!) There are always conferences to go to–so if I’m in Maine, I’ll definitely take your advice.
Apologies to everyone else for the off-topic post. I haven’t watched “Kitten With a Whip” for a while–think I’ll do that now in anticipation of Vol. XXV. There–back on track.

Of course, my blood still boils at how Ms Yashuko in Operation Kid Brother is there to be treated like a piece of furniture, tortured, and then when she’s killed, Brother Connery tosses her aside like a used condom.

@34
I just noticed they still show the version with the Crow bust in stock at ShoutFactory.com. They list it seperately from the non-Crow edition.
Good luck!

@34 Weird thing is the “collectors edition” w/ Crow shows as cheaper than the regular edition w/o him.

I’m glad their only changing the name on the box.
Barely remember watching Robot Holocaust. I was new to the series and didn’t really watch it until season 2. Seemed like a terrible film. I guess that’s what the Valeria thing in ROcketship X-M was about.

I too received MST3K XXIV recently. And I too opened up each case to find each poster folded haphazardly except for Star Force in which the poster was crammed in and torn where the case hinges are. I ordered mine from Amazon BRAND NEW. When I received it it was still factory sealed with the shrink wrap and the little sticker in the bottom left corner on the front of the set. My guess is that this is a Shout Factory issue, not a reseller issue, nor an illegal copy.

I’d like to get the bonus disc from Shout Factory, but with the $50 tag and the $8 shipping that raises the price about $18 above the usual $40 you can pick these up for on release day. Seems hard to justify for basically one short as I already have all the other sets. Are there any codes to get free shipping for the site?

I think over the course of the next three sets or so, we’ll see the following released:
Viking Women
Magic Sword
Herc & Captive Women
Fire Maidens
Human Duplicators
Day The Earth Froze
Painted Hills
