Okay, attention El Paso-area readers: I need somebody to go to this and send us a report.

I never knew Kevin Murphy did the voice of “Serbo”…

Words you thought you’d never hear spoken together in the English language: Manos on Blu-Ray.

What kind of a world do we live in when we are actually looking forward to seeing Manos on the big screen?

Twice, since we’re all going to be in the theater on August 16.

I’m not going to ask ‘why?’ but… what the?! The film looks like it would haunt me if I watched in it’s original non-MST3K format. I guess if people want to see it. It doesn’t look like Plan 9. It’s just it’s own monster in which every frame of it does look like everyone’s last known photo.

I bet Pod People and Wild Rebels (a personal favorite of mine) still havent’ received restoration or a proper deluxe DVD release. Why? :)

I have my two tickets to…paradise? I’ll have my report when I can after the show. It’s actually my first time watching the movie sans riffers, so it should be interesting.

@7 – The point of the restoration is that it no longer looks like someone’s last known photo. :)

Hopefully this is a trend. It really goes against Crow’s Anti-Film Preservation Society, though.

I would like to see new prints and blu rays of every movie featured on MST. Don’t a few exist already? I think you can get Blood Waters on blu ray. Hmm, another weekend discussion, perhaps? What MST film would you most like to see restored?

My picks would be brand new prints of It Conquered The World, Mitchell, and Master Ninja. Yes, Master Ninja. It was shot on film, and somewhere in someone’s vaults are the master negatives. Much like Star Trek (only without the digital enhancements), they could totally make a blu ray out if it. I’d be the only person to buy it (lol), but it could be made. I suspect we’ll see more of this type of thing with old shows that were shot on film. Dukes Of Hazzard and Simon And Simon, now in HD! Help, it’s like I’m in the 80s again!

Speaking of which, MST3K was Not shot on film, so no up-conversion needed. But the UK got their bluray of The Movie, where’s ours? Whoops, almost let the cat out of the bag. Shout’s gonna release the edition of the Movie we’ve always wanted, now that they have Universal rights. Well, that’s what I Want to happen! :)
