Boy am I glad Rifftrax made light of the COMPLETELY LOONY Sonic/human furry slash pairing. Sega – how could you have let a once-proud franchise be treated like a road house floozy for so, so long? For shame.
I wish Rifftrax could do the entirety of MGS4’s cinemas. Holy god, but that would be funny.

“He died from having a really stupid nose”. Hahaha. The Mega Man 8 and Sonic parts were the best. This really makes me want to see Rifftrax tackle an entire game… or at least an entire game’s cutscenes. Games are where the ridiculous costumes and stories are these days, anyway.

“Sure, blame it on the barrel.” LOL

Final Fantasy X totally deserved it. ;)
I second the idea of having them do MGS cutscenes. Only, like… all of them. Ever.

Ah, Sonic 2006, subject of my favorite Let’s Play. As the 20-hour game wears on, you can literally hear the players’ sanity degrading.
Some good riffs on FFX, although I do wish the general run of people on the Internet would at least realize that, y’know, that’s SUPPOSED to be terrible fake laughter.

Final Fantasy X killed the series for me, so I’m happy to hear it get lampooned by my heroes.

#5 – I mean, I know it’s supposed to be terrible laughter and all, but… but… it crossed the line. And, truthfully, I think I’m just bitter that they made a sequel to FFX when all I’ve ever wanted in life was a remake of FFVII. Well, okay, that and a heated indoor pool. That’d be fantastic.

#5- I assume you’re talking about pokecapn’s Let’s Play of Sonic 2006? I agree, best Let’s Play ever. Seeing them try to get through those mach speed portions is some of the funniest gaming related video I’ve ever seen online.

#7: Are you talking about X-2, or the HD re-release of X? I know a lot of people got all het up that they weren’t making that PS3 FFVII remake that a vocal minority wants, but the re-release of X won’t even be a real remake. Whether you wanted it or not, it’s nowhere near being a comparable project to remaking VII for this generation (or any subsequent one.)
#8: The same.

As much of a fan of the Elder Scrolls games as I am, there’s a gold mine of riffing material in them…Fallout, anyone?

Heh…FFX…never finished it. I did leave it running for three days straight during a blitzball game hoping everyone would drown, though.

#9 – I am not only a vocal minority for wanting the elusive PS3 FFVII remake, I am the vocalest of minorities! I’d buy it twice, even, just because.
And X-2, mostly, more than the HD remake. I mean… Dress Spheres. Egads. Finally, an FF game with all female leads and… Dress Spheres. C’mon, now, Squeenix; you don’t have to pander to my demographic THAT hard. I promise I like the same things in video games that the boys do.
#11 – LOL!

Unskippable has been riffing video games on The Escapist for a while:

Is it just me or does the lead picture of Mike, Kevin and Bill make them look like insane Pep-boys?

Video games are a whole field to explore the possibilities of riffing. Go, Mike, Kevin and Bill, leave no pop cult media safe from your wit!
Furthemore, nowadays video games are nothing more than glorified interactive hollywodean blockbusters. Kids these days, with their Xboxes, Playstations, and toasters…

Do you get an early-MST3k, Joel-and-Trace vibe from those guys? I sure do. I feel like they call the same shots I’d expect from season 2-3 riffing.

Picking up where they left off with that weird Playstation Underground thing…

I’d like to see them branch out like this, but I’d like to see them pull in the crew from thatguywiththeglasses.com (they’ve done iRiffs for Rifftrax before).

UberNeuman #14 – Yes!! Thanks! That was bugging me all weekend!
First, I loves me some Rifftrax and I loves me some video games. However, and I can’t quite put my finger on it, this just seems like… an undesired direction.
I guess a big part of the reason is that I’m a big Angry Video Game Nerd fan, as are countless others, so the realm of riffing/tearing apart video games doesn’t seem as “untouched” as some claim.
Second, personally, I don’t NEED Rifftrax to go in any other direction than movies and shorts. Having them spin through the Millcreek Entertainment boxes-o-movies is PERFECT. What better and bottomless material?
(That being said, Kurt Cobain being a bondage clown doubled me over.)
Anyway, that’s my buck-two-ninety-eight.

Bat Masterson #6 – For me, it was all over after FF6. I was equally as upset with Square for jumping to the PlayStation as I was with Nintendo for not moving to optical media thus warranting Square’s defection. However, I was rewarded for being stalwart with Ocarina of Time, so it all worked out.
I do have FF7 and FF8 in my retirement queue, though. (I can’t believe I just said that.)
Leap. Rage!
