At the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, Pa.: Episode 512- Mitchell Friday, April 20, at 9:45 p.m., plus a fan riff, contests and prizes. Admission is $8.
Meanwhile, in Chicago, there are meetups…
Saturday, April 14 at 2 PM at the Elgin Public House in Elgin (Pod People)
Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 PM at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago (Racket Girls)
Hey Sampo- just a quick correction: the Colonial show is a double feature of one episode of MST3K and one episode of the riffing show Incognito Cinema Warriors XP (www.icwxp.com).
Should be awesome!

I wonderr if the “fan riff” means we’ll get a chance to riff on John Saxon’s death scene. We got a chance to do that during the Gateway 2000 convention and it was a blast.

I have to work that Friday night, so I won’t be able to see the show at the Colonial. This sucks cause it sounds great, and I loved the last show (although I’m biased as Time Chasers is my favorite episode of all time).
So again I say that more people should go to the Colonial, as the host is good and the interactive elements are fun. Plus, it’s Mitchell!

The “fan riff” is by Incognito Cinema Warriors XP. Mike Nelson’s endorsed them since they got together a few years back. They’re very late-season MST3K and honestly hilarious. I really wish I could go. ICWXP’s the most exciting fan thing going on in the world of riffing in my humble opinion because they do the full show, with original puppets and all. If anyone outside the original cast has the MST spirit, it’s them.
Check them out sometime – http://www.icwxp.com / http://www.facebook.com/icwxp / http://www.youtube.com/icwxp

Hey. As a big fan of Incognito Cinema Warriors XP, I feel a bit put off that they’re merely described as a “fan riff”. I understand you guys might be uneasy about giving them a plug if you’ve never seen them, but at least clarify that this is something that’s been put together and sold professionally.

“Fan riff” is technically accurate, but I do agree that it hardly does ICWXP justice now a days. Maybe when they got their start, but now with all the fan support and production values, they’ve turned into what I feel is the true spiritual successor to MST3K. I know some younger folks that wouldn’t even know about MST3K without ICWXP!
But let’s not lose sight of the very amazing fact that ICWXP is sharing the big screen with MST3K! Historic! Thank you Satellite News!

Yes, that is in fact seriously awesome. I own the entire first season. This makes me really wish I lived in PA.

It really is too bad that fan-riff has some negative connotations to it. I blame iRiffs. Personally, I feel ICWXP can stand on its own alongside Rifftrax & Cinematic Titanic and even a lot of MST. A toast to progress! Congrats Rick & the bots!

Just so folks understand: “Fan riff” was not intended to have any negative connotations. There are, we’re told, lots of good fan riffing groups. I happen to be a member of one that I think is quite good, though we have never released anything for the public.
This is our policy: In an effort to avoid mission creep, we do not cover riffing groups other than ones that MST3K cast members are in. There are simply too many riffing groups out there and we cannot be in the position to decide which ones deserve mention and which don’t, so, for the purposes of this web site, any riffing group that does not feature a cast member of MST3K is a fan riffing group, which produces fan riffs.
A web site that actually looked at riffing groups and iriffs would be very interesting. Somebody should do that. But we aren’t. Sorry.
