Interesting interview – I’d seen the Skyline Displays credit, but I’d never really known what it was. I loved Trace’s description of puppeteering Crow, “I had forearms like a major-league pitcher … it was like puppeteering a car jack.”
I found the continued questioning about esoterica in the live show quite interesting. While Pat Paulsen was well-known to me, I’m not sure I remember his wine. I wonder if I would have laughed, had I been there. I love that they tried, though. I hope they never stop trying with things like that.
(I recently saw a British panel show where one panelist kept making early ’80s references, and the joke became that there was one older man – “one pensioner up there” “it’s that same pensioner” – who was laughing and applauding, the rest of the studio audience just kept waiting for a joke they could latch onto.)

Loved the interview, but seeing that group photo really took me back. Cool to see the original people (plus a few friends) all together and still doing this. Just wish I could meet them all and pick their brains.

Nice interview. Never knew Crow was pretty heavy to operate.
I do have to say, even after those four episodes Crow did always tend to look like he was “having a sezuire” whenever Bill operated him (notice how his head tends to spin alot).
Also interesting about the invention exchanges. Sounds like they had alot of fun with them, eh?

@David: I don’t know where you’re located, but if you get a chance to see a CT show, they stick around for autographs and a little chat afterward. Trace, especially; he comes out first and just hangs out before the tables are set up (at least, he did at the show I saw, and I’ve heard that’s typical).

Nice to finally see something with him. With all the various podcast interview appearances that pop up from time to time you never see Trace interviewed and I’d love that next. This will tide me over in the meantime.

In all honesty, I don’t see a great difference between Beaulieu and Corbett puppeteering style. Maybe I’m not obsessive enough.

@Neptune Man…
Bill latched onto Crow, as early as 803 in my opinion. 801, is where his Crow was in “stoke” mode.
The only major difference between what Trace did, and what Bill did (and it’s been commented on before), is Bill usually had Crow leaning against the desk most of the time. Trace usually didn’t do that.

Oh, those little details…

I liked the interview quite a bit. The next CT show I go to I’m going to make sure to stay for the meet-and-greet.
