RIP Frank Brana

MADRID–Spanish character actor Francisco “Frank” Brana, who appeared in more than 170 films, mostly action movies and Westerns (including several of Sergio Leone’s “spaghetti” Westerns), died here Feb. 13 of lung failure. He was 77. MSTies will remember him as Burt, the gray-haired egg collector in “Los nuevos extraterrestres,” seen in episode 303- POD PEOPLE.

There’s a story about him here, in Spanish. Google will translate … sort of.

Thanks to Mike H. for the heads up!

  1. Matthew Redwine says:

It’s titled “Frank, your time has come.” The article says he holds the record for most onscreen deaths (over 100). His Autobiography is titled “Dying with dignity in the movies.” The cinematic king of the death scene has died.

Wasn’t he the head poacher? If so he was actually
rather good in the role so I guess I can’t say of his
    acting: “It stinks!”

Francisco “Frank” Brana played one of the Bounty Hunters shot by Tuco (Eli Wallach) in the opening sequence of Sergio Leone’s “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”

So Pod People was Spanish? I never knew what country to blame for that film.

Really?! That picture of him in the article leader looks MUCH better than he did in Pod People. That being said, his eyebrows didn’t disappoint.

Doesn’t it kind of seem like MST actors are dropping like flies recently?

I was just watching him in Supersonic Man on Sunday. Looks like he was Juan Piquer Simón’s De Niro.

Striking looking dude, even in Pod People. He sort of looks like one of the characters from Thunderbirds. Those eyebrows are amazing!

I liked his character in Pod People, a sensible poacher who preferred to stick to business; unlike his rapey Ren-fest friend.

Hey #10 Max, you also have Canada to blame for this film. It was a Spanish-Canadian co-prod.
