Joel InterviewJoel does a long and fascinating phone interview with Stephen Sajdak of the “We Hate Movies” podcast. I was aware this was coming but I think it slipped by me while I was in SF.

Nice to hear Joel speak at length. Usually we get a couple of old quotes or something gone over many times over. Thanks Joel.

Yeah…the Woody Boyd thing surprised me too…cool bit of trivia and also one of my favorite shows.

@1 I agree. On the show, Joel is charming, creative, and clever, and Mike is an amiable everyman who makes a great “straight man” for humor. They both have a lot going for them, are both talented humorists, and I don’t fully comprehend why anyone feels the need to pick sides. Not this many years removed from the switch, anyway.

That was awesome. I was happy to hear the Goodbye Yellowbrick Road reference confirmed, I’ve wondered about that. Joel saying “This is Bullsh*t.” had to have been epic. CT to anywhere near Utah! Please!

Also loved the Zappa story!!!!

I always heard that Joel’s leaving had to do with the feature film. Now we know a little more of the reasons behind his thinking. Most TV shows don’t go back to television after a movie. If Sci-Fi didn’t pick up the series there would have only been six more episodes before cancelation.

@1 and @ 5..I think it’s our version of Star Trek,if you prefer Kirk or Pecard..It’s all silly, isn’t it? Let’s enjoy the show for what it was: funny, clever, entertaining, original…Please, can’t we just get beyond Thunderdome? :-)

Great interview..Speaking of Zappa,I read on his IMDB that he was wanting to make a movie with MST3K..This is what it says: During his last days he wanted to make a movie called “Dwell”.”Dwell” would have been a musical about a giant spider, but from the spider’s point of view.He was going to make it with the people of MST3K and had several conversations with Kevin Murphy….
