The opening bits were rather brutal (aside from Joel’s magic trick) – but the movie was wonderfully bad and the riffing was terrific. Had a great time.

I REALLY wanted to go see this show, and even had tickets. But I had to go to New York because my Grandmother is very ill. I hope they come to Wilmington again.

Awesome. I still can’t really believe that last night I got to shake hands with the people who created my favorite show ever and had a chance to thank them for giving me something that I’ve loved FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS(!) . Like I said, awesome. They are just as friendly as they are funny and holy crap are they ever funny. The riffs were plentiful and almost non stop, except when the movie itself was so bat**** goofy that no words were needed. That being said it seemed that there were almost double the riffs of your typical Joel era MST episode.
If Rifftax is a spiritual successor to the sci fi era MST there is certainly no question that CT is a successor to the Joel years. While I love MST in all it’s forms(and really don’t want to stir up anything), CT last night had that old feeling of tearing a bad movie apart with tongue firmly in cheek by people who grew up watching creature feature on tv and can appreciate on some level a truly bad, baaaad movie for the unintentional humor found within. It didn’t come off as jaded or mean spirited but as something everyone involved in was really enjoying to make people laugh. I can watch a Joel episode any time but last night made me realize just how much I miss the combination of Joel, Trace, and Frank and the style of humor they bring.
Obviously I had a great time and I really hope they come around again soon.
